"KI! You're almost late to school again!" I sighed irritably when I heard my Mama's voice.

I grabbed my sweatshirt lying on my bed, as well as my AirPods and bag, before I could exit my bedroom.

Apart from two of my siblings, I happened to be the one who woke up late every morning.

I walked into the kitchen, seeing Mama still working on Rakim's hair. She had been doing his hair since last night.

"Morning, baby girl." I felt the embrace of Dom and smiled as he hugged me.

"Good morning," I mumbled, looking over at Dovani, who sat at the dining table with her phone in her hand.

I grabbed my plate of pancakes sitting on the island.

"You didn't think to wake me?" I asked her with raised brows, and she looked up.

"First off," she stood up and walked into the kitchen to put her plate in the sink before turning back to look at me.

"You're a horrible ass sleeper."

"Dovani, girl, watch your mouth," Mama said, and I snickered.

I sucked my teeth at her and looked down at my phone; a few messages had popped up on my screen.

I texted London back and took a glimpse at Mama.

"I can still hang out with my friends tonight, right?"

"You have friends?" Rakim said, staring in awe at himself in the mirror hoisted above the wall.

"Shut up, Rakim," I said, rolling my eyes towards Dovani, who had laughed.

"Shit, I look good," he dragged, his braids curtaining his face.

"Don't be cussing in my house, Rakim." Mama gave him a glare. I chuckled. "And race car driving? Since when do you go out?"

"Mama, I've been asking you since yesterday. Can I go?" I begged, and she gave a small smile.
