The shadows of the dark kingdom loomed heavy as Chan led Han through the massive gates, their footsteps echoing across the cold stone floor. Behind them trailed Seungmin and Changbin, who exchanged anxious glances as they watched Han's unreadable expression harden. Hyunjin was waiting, his face tense, anger simmering in his dark eyes.
As Han entered, Hyunjin's patience finally snapped. "Do you realize the trouble you've caused?" he demanded, stepping forward. "You ran, knowing what we're up against. Do you think you're the only one in pain?"
Han's eyes blazed, an old fury sparking to life. "You don't know what I've been through," he shot back, his voice a strained rasp. "Don't assume my pain is something you can understand."
The tension crackled between them, escalating as their words turned sharp, each syllable another jab at open wounds. But before things could spiral further, the air around them shifted. A brilliant, gentle light split the room as a portal opened, and I.N. stepped through, regal in his stance, with a woman following close behind.
Han's eyes went wide as he saw her. She crossed the room swiftly, throwing her arms around him. "Han..." she whispered, her voice breaking. Her touch was unfamiliar yet warm, and Han's mind reeled as he caught sight of his own reflection in her tear-filled gaze. The reality of her presence, of her existence, was almost too much to bear.
Staggering back, he broke free from her embrace, turning and running down the shadowed hall. His heart pounded, the pain unbearable. He threw himself into the nearest room, slamming the door shut behind him. Curling up in a corner, he clutched a blanket tightly, the tremors of anguish wracking his body. His breaths came in gasps, the strain tearing at him until he felt like he was coming undone.
Then, unexpectedly, he felt a warm touch on his hand. Lifting his tear-stained face, he found Felix kneeling beside him, his expression soft with compassion. Felix's gentle whispers were indistinct, a murmured comfort that Han couldn't quite catch, but his presence alone was grounding. The sensation of light—bright and calming—began to pulse from Felix's touch, spreading warmth through Han's chest, like a balm against the ache.
Han collapsed against him, clinging as the light melted away some of the heaviness, some of the piercing agony. "It's... so much," he whispered brokenly, burying his head in Felix's lap. "This pain... it's like I'm being torn apart from the inside."
Felix stroked his hair, his voice soothing. "You don't have to carry it alone anymore, Han. I'm here with you." He continued his soft reassurances, his fingers tracing calming patterns on Han's back until the demon's breathing steadied, and he drifted into an exhausted sleep, finally finding some release from the torment.
The door creaked open, and Hyunjin appeared, his face a mix of confusion and anger as he took in the sight of Felix and Han. Just as he was about to approach, I.N. stepped forward, holding out a hand to halt him.
"Let him rest, Hyunjin," I.N. urged gently. "He's been through more than you know."
But Hyunjin's fists clenched, his frustration palpable. Chan, sensing the mounting tension, stepped in, pushing Hyunjin back outside. "Give them space," he whispered firmly.
Left in the corridor, Hyunjin's anger simmered just beneath the surface, but even he could sense the weight of the situation. Near them stood Han's mother, her face streaked with fresh tears, the turmoil in her eyes mirroring that of the kingdom itself.
