motherly love

In the corners of our home, silence fills the air,

Words left unspoken, a weight that I bear.

Her eyes drift past me, like I'm not even there,

A chill in her gaze, a love stripped bare.

I wear my heart on my sleeve, but it's met with disdain,

Every small failure feels like another chain.

I long for a moment, a smile or a sign,

But the distance between us feels like a line.

I try to be good, to earn her respect,

But every small slip seems to cause more neglect.

In the chaos of anger, I search for her heart,

But it feels like a puzzle, a piece torn apart.

I hear her frustration, it cuts like a knife,

In the shadow of her disappointment, I question my life.

The laughter of others feels so far away,

While I stand in the silence, just wishing to stay.

Maybe one day, she'll see what I'm worth,

And we'll bridge this chasm, reclaim what we've lost.

But for now, I'm left with this aching despair,

Wondering if love will ever find us out there.
