Let's just say.
Waking up on a stained smelly yellow carpet of somebody's mom's basement while strapped to an uncomfortable wooden chair was not what Lucia Noceda expected to be doing in the summer after she just turned 17.
Lucia sighed, feeling her head throb just from the smell. Her hair was sticking onto her face because of the carpet and the humid air of what she assumed was a man cave. Or this guy's mom's basement.
"Tsk fine."
Seriously who thought it was a good idea to put carpet in a basement with exposed water pipes for a ceiling?
"So how long are you gonna pretend you're not in the room?"
"Sharp senses, it seems I made the right choice." A deep voice bounced off the walls sending cold shivers down Lucia's spine
Wonderful, either the dreadfully long awaited day of Lucia's barely legal activities during her late night trips finally caught up to her or she punched the rude stuck-up little shit at McDonald's a little too hard.
"Yeah, it's being a bitch for my nose so you mind getting me off the ground?"
"Ah right, my apologies. Go on" The voice said with a snap before two pairs of hands grabbed the chair Lucia was strapped to and pulled it up onto the position it was made to be standing in.
Lucia looked towards the person responsible for putting her in this place they were shrouded in shadows the only visible part of them was their arms dimly lit by the light hanging on the ceiling. Clad in a purple suit wearing black gloves with a weird skull with pointy horns cufflink on their right sleeve.
Oddly enough their green eyes glowed in the dark.
Weird.
"Alright let's get to business shall we?" They said with a heavy sigh.
"I heard you were looking for a... Job. Of sorts."
"Yeah. Due to.. circumstances." Lucia answered reluctantly. She could've just worked part time as a cashier at the local grocery store for minimum wage before she got bagged off the street and plopped over here.
"Very well. So, to confirm your qualifications for this job we have for you." They cleared their throat. "How good are you at... Taking care of.. clients?"
"That depends. Why're you asking?"
"Let's just say.. if you are skilled, in what we ask you to complete.. it could end in a large sum of money."
"How much exactly?"
"50,000 dollars."
Lucia hesitated. Now don't get her wrong she would kill for that amount of money. What kind of job it was that they wanted her to do that they're willing to pour in that much money is what made her hesitate.
"What's the job?"
Despite being unable to see through the shadows shrouding them Lucia felt that they had grinned."Your target is the Blight family."
Excuse me the fuck?
"THE FUCKING COMPANY?"
Lucia could tell she was starting to get under this person's skin. They said with a slightly frustrated sigh "Yes, the Blights that own Blight Industries. Is there another Blight family you know but we don't know about?"
They said it so casually it baffled Lucia. It was as if it was just a normal everyday thing to put a hit on the family that owns one of the biggest corporations that singlehandedly owns dozens upon dozens of companies that run this city.
