The man didn't flinch, his eyes still fixed on her. Laney's mind was racing, and she was paralyzed with fear. She couldn't move, couldn't speak. All she could do was scream. And then, everything went black.

Laney's scream was still echoing in her ears as she tried to process what was happening. She tried to reach for her phone to call for help, but the man was too quick. He snatched the phone from her hand, his grip like a vice. "Don't bother trying to call anyone," he sneered, his voice dripping with malice.

Laney's heart was racing, and she was starting to feel lightheaded. She tried to struggle, but the man was too strong. He pinned her down on the bed, his hands holding her wrists in a tight grasp. Laney was trapped, and she knew it. She tried to think of something, anything, to distract him, but her mind was a blank.

All she could do was stare up at him in terror, her eyes pleading for mercy. But the man just laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "You're not going anywhere," he said, his breath hot on her face. Laney's world was spiraling out of control, and she didn't know how to escape.

The man's grip on Laney's wrists loosened slightly, and he sat back, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "My name is Owen, I can explain," he said, his voice a little softer now.

Laney's eyes widened in shock as he said, "I am your dog, Max." She shook her head, trying to process what she was hearing. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice trembling.

He explained that he was once her beloved dog, Max, but had been transformed into a human by some kind of mysterious force.

Laney's eyes rolled in disbelief. "You're crazy!" she exclaimed, trying to push him away. "Max is my dog, not some...some person!" Max's face fell, but he didn't back down.

"I know it's hard to believe, Laney, but I'm telling you the truth. I remember everything our walks, our playtime, our snuggles. I'm Max, Laney. I'm your furry best friend." Laney shook her head, her mind racing. This was insane.

Laney's mind raced as she tried to wrap her head around this bizarre revelation. She stared at him, searching for any hint of her furry companion in his features. And then, she saw it the same blue eyes that Max had.

She didn't know what kind of game he was playing, but she wasn't buying it. "Get out," she said firmly, pointing towards the door. "Get out of my house and never come back."  Owen's eyes pleaded with her, but Laney was resolute. She didn't want to hear any more of his crazy talk. She just wanted him gone.

Laney's eyes narrowed, "Go" she said, her voice firm but wary. Owen hesitated, then nodded. "I can prove it to you. But like I said, don't freak out, okay?"

Laney raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued despite herself. "Prove what?" she pressed, her voice a little softer.

"Im a werewolf." he said.

Mel rolled her eyes, chuckling. "Come on, Owen. I'm not 14 years old I'm 25, I'm over my Twilight phase. I don't believe in werewolves or vampires or any of that stuff." Owen smiled mischievously. "That's good, Laney. Because I'm not a vampire. But I am a werewolf." Laney raised an eyebrow, skeptical.

"A werewolf? As in, a literal werewolf?" Owen nodded. "Yes. And I can prove it." Laney laughed. "Oh, this should be good."

Owen took a deep breath, then reached out and pulled up his sleeve. Laney gasped as she saw a furry patch of skin on his arm, complete with a dog tag that read "Max".

Her mind reeled as she stared at the impossible sight. "How...how is this possible?" she stammered. Owen smiled wryly. "I told you, Laney. I'm your dog. And I can prove it in other ways too."
