Nothing but darkness lay in front of her. Her only thoughts were, 'Get out! Get out! I have to find my way out.' There was no sense of time in this place, only a sense of dread and the smell of sweat and tireless cries echoing the halls and the secret corridors. She continued her search for an opening, an escape out of this desolate place, a place she had called home for more than five years, she guessed. She only remembered the wipes on her back, the smiles on their faces, and the chanting songs the others would make to pass the work along.
As she ran, trying not to be seen or heard, she felt a drop not of hell fire but of water. She looked up to a hole. With a face of delight, she kit the hole to make it bigger enough for her to squeeze through. She continued to dig her way out until she heard the voices. " Where did she go? One of the guards screamed with a raspy voice, Another yelled "This way, shes up there!" Pointing in her direction. She didn't dare look back but continued to dig. Dig through the limestone and crystals, digging until her hands are bruised. She continued until she heard the ghastly voices stop. She heard metal hitting metal, a sound of respect given to someone with authority. In this case, a Goddess. A soft voice a voice that lucifer would love and adore ruminated through the hall, reaching her ears." Oh, Violet. My Sweet Violet. How did you get up there?" the Goddess said. Violet didn't move as though she would suddenly become invisible to her. "Come down, girl." still gentle and soft.
Violet disobeyed and continued to dig. The Goddess laughed and began to chant, "maledictionem meam fili eris donec venias ad me."( child of mine, curse you will be until you come back to me) As the chanting grew faster The Goddess eyes began to glow her red, her skin started melting to the bone. Violet violently continued to dig; her hands were bruised. Her nails were torn to pieces, and the blood dripped down her arms. She felt the dug harder and harder until she felt the roots of vegetation removing the coils from around her.
The Goddess chants turned into beautiful golden snakes with emerald eyes. They slithered up the corridor Violet created. She feared for not only her life but for her soul. With one last punch, she broke through the earth and breathed the earth's air, something she never thought she missed. She wasn't out of the grasp of the Goddess. Violet desperately lifted herself out of the hole, punching and gripping the grass that lay around her. When suddenly she screamed with agony in her voice, the snake reached her and collected its prize, the sweet nectar of Violet's blood. Another snake bite followed the previous one. With pain and adrenaline coursing through her body, she let out a heart-wrenching scream and pushed herself out. Crawling onto the earth and away from the Hell that she lived and endured.
Violet looked back to see the snakes looking into her eyes and crawling back to their ruler. A laugh from the Goddess echoed inside the hole, and without time or thought, it was filled as though nothing happened. The two bite marks on her body healed, leaving on beautiful delicate scar. Violet looked around, not knowing where she was, only knowing that she was finally free from the grasp of the Goddess.
