"Looks like he's still making that potato girl run," Connie said as he watched the girl with brown hair, still moving tirelessly.
[Name] raised an eyebrow, noting that it was already sunset. They had expected her to give up a long time ago, but it was clear she had the resilience to keep going. It really showed a lot about her character in their opinion.
"Wow, she's been at it for five hours," Eren said, sounding genuinely impressed. "But she looked more upset when told she wouldn't get dinner than when she was told she had to run until she dropped."
[Name] nodded in agreement as they all watched her run, crossing their arms. "Seems like she doesn't give up when it comes to food. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, though." Their comment earned nods of agreement from the others.
"If I remember correctly, Dauper Village is a small village of hunters deep in the mountains, right?" Connie said, a thoughtful look on his face.
"Yeah, I think so," [Name] replied, recalling that was where Sasha was from.
Meanwhile, Eren pointed to something in the distance. "What's that?" he asked, gesturing toward a horse-drawn carriage leaving the camp.
[Name] hummed as they followed his gaze.
"Those are the dropouts. They opted to be transferred to the frontier," Mina explained, her expression turning slightly sad.
"What?" Armin exclaimed in shock. "But it's only the first day!"
Eren crossed his arms with a small scowl. "It's only a matter of time. If you aren't strong enough, you have to leave."
[Name]'s eyes widened at Eren's words. For some reason, their heart fluttered, as if what he said was exactly what they expected their hero to say. However, that feeling quickly faded as they remembered that Eren was weaker than Annie and Mikasa. They started to doubt whether he was the person they were looking for.
While they hoped their hero would be someone powerful enough to save others, they still felt unsure. Hopefully, his bite was stronger than his bark.
"Hard to believe they'd rather go back to weeding and picking up rocks..." Eren muttered as he stared intently at the carriage leaving.
They noticed Marco stop leaning against the wooden railing to look at them and the others.
"That reminds me. You three weren't asked to state your name and birthplace or anything," Marco pointed out, which made Mina and Connie realize he was right.
[Name] shrugged. "I think the commander was looking for something in each of us, but I am Wall Rose." They didn't explicitly say where, knowing that if anyone makes the connection between them and the Kamado clan, could lead to the death of their parents.
Eren smiled a little, giving Armin a friendly pat on the shoulder. "We're from Shiganshina District."
[Name]'s eyes widened at Eren's words. It felt like another sign that he might be the one. Someone who should have seen what the Titans can do. Their hero needs to be someone who knows what they are against and in this case Titans. It seemed almost unbelievable that they could meet the hero so soon after starting their journey to find them. The thought of finding the hero filled them with happiness.
This must be what their parents had meant when they said their destiny was to find the hero.
"I see... That's..." Marco struggled to find the right words.
Connie's eyes grew wide with excitement. "So that means you were there on that day, right?!"
"H-Hey!" Marco exclaimed, taken aback by Connie's boldness.
