The next day, it was time for the cadets on the first day of training. [Name] wondered, as they stood with the group of teenagers, if the training won't be that hard. However, knowing Shadis's personality it won't be that easy.

[Name] glanced at the other trainees as they all gathered in front of a large contraption, with Shadis already glaring at everyone. There were groups of trainees already starting their exercises, and in [Name]'s opinion, this was taking too long. They couldn't help but wonder what had gotten into Shadis that morning. What pissed in his breakfast? Or maybe he always wakes up angry. They wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

"First, we'll evaluate what you have!" Shadis shouted, his hands folded behind his back, still glaring at the group. [Name] sighed, crossing their arms and shifting their weight from one leg to the other. How can this man keep shouting every single day? Doesn't he get tired of it? they thought. His voice is slowly starting to get on their nerves. It was hard trying to not let that show though. They didn't want to be punished for letting their expression show what they were thinking. They wouldn't be suprised if the man made them run all day like with what happened with Sasha. "Anybody unable to do this can't even serve as a decoy! They will be sent to the frontier."

One by one, Shadis began calling out the names of the trainees. However, [Name] wasn't paying much attention to that, since they noticed that Eren was in their group. This was great news—it was the perfect opportunity to talk to him, especially since Mikasa had already been called up to do the exercise. Although, [Name] couldn't help but notice that Eren seemed to be hanging out with Armin, which didn't bother them too much. They assumed the blonde wasn't like Mikasa, in the sense that he wouldn't be getting in the way of their soon-to-be friendship (hopefully something more in the future) with Eren.

"Hey, Eren," [Name] called out, leaning around from behind the brown-haired teen with a smile. They didn't pay any attention to the intense look Mikasa shot in their direction.

"Oh, [Name]," Eren said, his face lighting up in surprise, but also genuinely happy to see someone who he was starting to build a friendship with. "Hey."

"Hi, Armin," [Name] waved at the blonde. They knew it would leave a bad impression if they ignored Armin, especially since they guessed he was Eren's best friend. Word on the street was that Eren and Mikasa grew up together, raised by the same parents. That made [Name] assume that Eren saw Mikasa as a sister, even though Mikasa obviously didn't feel the same way. They weren't blood-related—just adopted siblings. That is something they can work with.

Something like that, [Name] thought, could definitely be used to their advantage.

"Um, hi," Armin replied, looking down shyly for a moment. [Name] couldn't help but find it cute, though it didn't quite compare to the way they felt about Eren.

"How are you two doing?" [Name] asked as they moved to stand next to Eren, with Armin on the other side of him. They felt proud to be standing so close to their hero. Mikasa felt differently as she scowled slightly at the sight.

"I'm doing okay," Eren grinned, his confidence shining through. "I know I'm going to ace this."

"I doubt I will," Armin muttered. [Name] raised an eyebrow at his low self-esteem. If he couldn't do it, he wouldn't have made it this far in their opinion.

Eren turned to Armin with a frown. "I know you can do it, Armin!" he exclaimed, trying to hype up his friend.

"Yeah," [Name] nodded in agreement, giving the blonde an encouraging look. They hated to admit it, but they knew they would have to try to be friends with the people their hero considered friends.

"I'll try," Armin said, balling his hand into a fist. But [Name] could tell he still didn't believe in himself. Eren didn't seem to notice, as he was staring at the machine in awe, clearly excited for his turn. [Name] looked around and saw that Mikasa was already done, and the staff was slowly bringing her down.
