Patrick and Detective Kimball sit across from each other at Smith and Wollensky's, an expensive and elegant restaurant where many patrons go for business meetings or to catch up with the latest gossip. The waiter drops off their plates, and Detective Kimball nods in thanks while Patrick examines him with a light hickey peeking out the collar of his neck.
"So. The night he disappeared. Any new thoughts about what you did?" Kimball asks as he adds salt to his meal and cuts it into smaller portions.
"Not sure. I had a shower and some sorbet." Patrick explains putting on a thinking face.
"I think you're getting your dates mixed up." Kimball says noticing Patrick's movements.
"But how? Where do you place Paul that night?" Patrick asks, wanting to know what the other thinks. According to his databook, and this was verified by his secretary, he had dinner with Marcus Halberstram," Kimball states.
"And?"
"I questioned him." Kimball continues.
"Marcus?" Patrick verified.
"Yes, and he denies it. Though, at first, he couldn't be sure." Kimball adds.
"But he denied it." Patrick brought it up once again.
"Yes."
"Well, does Marcus have an alibi?" Patrick questions.
"Yes."
"He does? You're sure?" Patrick continues to question.
"I've checked it out. It's clean." Kimball takes a bite as Patricks takes a drink. "Now, where were you?" Kimball laughs.
"Where was Marcus?" Patrick laughs as well.
"He wasn't with Paul Allen." Kimball says not wanting to explain where Marcus was or who he was with.
"Who was he with?" Patrick asks once more.
"He was at Atlantis with Craig McDermott, Frederick Dibble, Harry Newman, George Butner, and...you." Kimball reads off all the names in his notebook.
Patrick stays silent, trying to comprehend what was told to him, then starts to laugh. "Right, yeah. Of course." He points to his head in an 'I forgot' movement as Kimball does the same. "We wanted Paul Allen to come, but he had made plans, and I guess I had dinner with Y/n the following night." Patrick straightens out.
"Personally, I think the guy went a little nutso. Split town for a while. Maybe he did go to London, sightseeing, drinking, whatever. Or, he probably had a ruin in with the Mafia, more specifically the Cartier Mafia. Owned some money, had to repay a favor, or just tick off the wrong guy, and had to go hiding. Anyway, I'm pretty sure he'll turn up sooner or later." Patrick was about to get up till Kimball continued capturing his attention. "I mean, to think that one of his friends killed him for no reason whatsoever would be too ridiculous. Isn't that right, Patrick?" Kimball laughs at the thought.
Patrick stares at Kimball with a small smile forming for a split second before falling as he wonders if Kimball slightly knew he did it.

Later in the night, Patrick's limo drives through the same street corner where Christie is standing in the same spot as last time. The limo pulls up as Patrick rolls down his window calling out Christie's name.
"I'm not so sure about this. I had to go to emergency after last time." Christie says as she has her arms wrapped around her to keep herself warm.
"This won't be anything like last time. I promise." Patrick smiles at her.
