Our story begins with Jason Blaze, son of Johnny Blaze and the next Ghost Rider. After finally stopping Mephistopheles and getting rid of the power of the Ghost Rider, Johnny went back to his hometown to be with the love of his life, Roxanne Simpson...
After helping Hellboy defeat Sammael and encountering Grigori Rasputin, and quite possibly a presence from his father's past, Jason was brought to the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, becoming a member of the government agency and enjoying his first night in his new home. It was weird though. When he met Liz, he felt a strong connection from her, something that drew them together, as if his flames were calling out to her. Compared to Mia, who was cold, Liz was rather warm when they shook hands. The young stuntman laid in his bed, looking up at the very wide ceiling above him, but was awoken by the sounds of someone walking outside of his room. He opened the door and took a glimpse at the person, seeing John Myers walking out and about.
Jason: [Mutters] What's got the Boy Scout out in the halls this late?
Getting his chain prepared, just in case, Jason slowly closes his door and follows Myers through the hallway. As he follows, he watches as he turns to both sides, then opens a very large metal door. He opened it from his side and looked around, seeing tons of silver file cabinets, like it was a records room or something.
Jason: [Walks in] What's up, Boy Scout?
Myers: [Turns around; spooked] What are you doing up?!
Jason: I heard some sounds outside of my room, decided to check it out. Now, what's got you walking around?
Myers: [Turns back to computer] I'm looking for anything around those girls' past.
Jason: Liz and Mia. What about them?
Myers: Hopefully, I'll be able to figure that out.
Letting him get back to his business, but walking closer to the computer screen, Jason and Myers begin looking for anything that'll indicate why Liz and Mia left the B.P.R.D. Myers types on the keyboard and finds something rather interesting.

It was a report about an explosion report, caused by Liz when she was younger. The damage was tragic, having said to be caused by a huge "firestorm", still undetermined. No one survived the events, all except for two little girls: Elizabeth and Mia Sherman.
Jason: [Thinking to himself] 'That's why I felt something from Liz...'
Myers continued looking through the files on the sisters, finding something else, only this next one was about Mia. Not too long after the explosion in their neighborhood, Mia survived a sudden winter storm, also undetermined. Something inside of them caused these incidents, but whatever they were, Jason had to figure out what. In fact, Myers had the same idea.
Jason: [Moves him aside] Let me get in there.
Myers: Why?
Jason: You saw what I did earlier tonight. [Turns to him] When I met Liz, I felt something radiating off her hand, like it was calling out to me. [Turns back to computer] Well, I'm gonna figure out what it was.
