As Maya and Carina lay intertwined under the sheets, the world outside was still waking up. Maya looked at Carina, her heart swelling with love. "I really need to get going, or I'll be late," she said reluctantly, planting a passionate kiss on Carina's lips.Carina pouted playfully. "You could always call in and say you're too busy being in love," she teased, her eyes twinkling as she pulled Maya closer for another kiss.
Maya laughed, brushing her fingers through Carina's hair. "If only it were that simple. I promise I'll make it up to you tonight," she said, leaning in for one last kiss before slipping out of bed.

At Station 19, the atmosphere buzzed with the usual morning hustle. Maya, now dressed in her uniform, entered the beanery where the familiar faces of the A-shift crew were gathered. "Morning!" she called out, her face beaming as she grabbed her coffee and a muffin.
"Someone is in a good mood?" Andy said, smirking as she poured herself a cup.
"What can I say? I have the best wife in the world," Maya replied with a grin.
"Although I love seeing you so happy, I am not used to seeing a giddy Maya Bishop. It's weird," Andy replied with a laugh.
"Maybe you need to get yourself someone who can start your morning off like my..." Andy cut Maya off. "Okay, stop! I really don't need to know what your hot Italian wife did to you this morning."
Maya laughed. "Okay, okay, but I tell you what—it's the best way to start the day." She winked and moved over to the dining table where Vic, Travis, and Jack were already sitting.
"Ready for another day of saving the world?" Vic asked Maya as she sat down.
"That's what we're here for. Just gotta get this caffeine in me first," Maya replied, taking a sip of her coffee.
Jack was seated at the table across from Maya and next to Vic. "Can't save the world on desk duty," he said, looking down at his coffee cup.
Maya gave him a look of sympathy. Vic put her arm around his shoulders. "Don't worry, you'll be back with us on the truck in no time." Jack gave the girls a weak smile and a nod of his head, thankful for the reassurance.
They continued to banter back and forth, their laughter echoing through the station until the sudden blare of the klaxton cut through their chatter.
Captain Sullivan entered the room, his expression serious. "All right, team! We have a multi-vehicle collision. Montgomery, you're driving the engine. Bishop, Herrera, you're with me on the engine. Hughes and Warren on Aid Car. Let's move!"
Maya, Andy, Robert, and Travis piled into the fire engine, while Vic and Ben hopped into the aid car.
As Travis navigated the slick roads, he glanced at the others. "These conditions are no joke." Travis gripped the wheel tightly as he sped down the highway. "Keep it steady, Montgomery," Captain Sullivan told him. "Fast but careful," Andy chimed in, her eyes focused on the road.
Suddenly, the truck began to slide. "Whoa, whoa!" Travis shouted, gripping the steering wheel harder, but it was too late. "Hold on!" Robert yelled to his crew. The truck veered off the road, crashing through the guardrail before tumbling down the cliffside.
As the vehicle rolled, the world outside became a blur of trees and sky, the sound of metal crumpling echoing in their ears. Eventually, they landed with a bone-jarring thud against a large tree.
Vic and Ben, who had been following closely in the aid car, witnessed the horrifying scene unfold. "Oh my god!" Vic cried, panic rising in her chest as she watched the fire truck disappear over the edge.
