Yunjin
12/3/2018
Yunjin sat by the airplane window, heart thudding in her chest as the plane from Incheon to JFK lifted off the ground. The gentle hum of the engines and the muted chatter of passengers faded into the background as her thoughts spun in excitement. She hadn't felt this giddy in months. The anticipation was almost unbearable. Her fingers toyed with her promise ring, the metal cool under her touch, and a small smile tugged at her lips.
From the moment she had arrived at Incheon Airport, it felt like everything was moving in slow motion. Checking in her bags, navigating through security, and waiting at the gate—all of it had her feeling as if she were counting down the seconds until she could finally see Y/N and her family again. Each step was a reminder of how close she was to home, and she could feel the excitement growing with every passing minute.
As she boarded the plane, she glanced at the rows of passengers and found her seat by the window, grateful for the chance to look out and daydream. She watched as the airport grew smaller beneath her, the city fading away as the plane ascended into the clouds. The familiar rush of excitement she always felt during takeoff mingled with the warm feeling of finally heading home.
Her thoughts wandered to Y/N, imagining his face when he saw her. He had been so supportive throughout everything, their FaceTime calls a constant source of comfort when things got tough. And now, after being apart for so long, she would finally get to see him in person again. She could already picture the way he'd grin at her, maybe make some flirty remark to lighten the mood, and how he'd probably tease her for tearing up the moment they reunited. She laughed quietly to herself, feeling a warmth spread through her chest at the thought.
And her family... Yunjin felt a wave of warmth wash over her at the thought of seeing her parents, her sister, Rachel, and her little brother. She hadn't realized just how much she missed them until now. It had been a tough year—emotionally draining—and their support, even from afar, had kept her going. She couldn't wait to hug them, hear their voices in person, and just be surrounded by the love and familiarity she had craved for months.
The plane leveled out, cruising above the clouds, and Yunjin leaned her head against the window, staring at the endless expanse of blue sky. She could feel her pulse in her fingertips, her legs bouncing slightly in her seat. It felt surreal—going home. For the next month, she wouldn't have to worry about performances, rankings, or the constant pressure of training. For the next month, she could just be.
Yunjin closed her eyes for a moment, letting the soft hum of the plane relax her. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop the flutter of excitement in her chest. She wasn't just going home—she was heading back to the people who mattered most, to the life she had missed so deeply. Her fingers tightened around the ring again, and she smiled, feeling that sense of anticipation pulse through her veins once more.
Soon, she'd be home, and everything would feel alright again.
14 hours later —
Yunjin felt a rush of excitement surge through her as the plane began its descent toward JFK. The soft announcement overhead reminded everyone to fasten their seatbelts, but she was already wide awake, her heart racing with anticipation. The city below came into view, sprawling and alive beneath the thick layer of clouds. It felt surreal to be this close, to know that in a few short minutes she'd be touching down in New York, just a couple of hours away from home.
Her mind raced, thoughts bouncing between seeing Y/N and her family. She imagined stepping out of the airport, breathing in the cool New York air, and seeing Y/N's face after all these months. Would he be waiting with that cheesy banner like he promised, or would he surprise her in some other way? Either way, she couldn't wait to see his expression when she finally walked through those sliding doors.
