Spider-Woman slowly collected herself, rising to her feet on the rooftop she'd landed on. She put her hand to her head, still a little disoriented from the sudden and extreme ride she'd just taken. It had all happened so fast; one moment she'd been in the middle of a heated fight, then next thing she knew, she was instantaneously sucked into a portal and sent on a wild ride through space time.
Removing her hand from her head, Spider-Woman glanced around, taking in the surroundings. She'd landed in New York, but not her New York. Most of it looked the same, down to the building layout of the area, but it was seeing the stores with slightly tweaked names from what they were back home that confirmed it for her: she was on another earth, an alternate dimension.
Spider-Woman chastised herself internally; how could she have allowed this to happen? She'd gone in so guns blazing, knowing there was a much greater danger involved than what she was used to. She should've exercised more caution or at least gone in with at least a semblance of a plan instead of just winging it. She was an experienced superhero, having done this for over ten years now; she should be better than this. It was just that, whenever she faced HER...
Spider-Woman suddenly had a terrible thought: if she was here, but her opponent hadn't come through the portal like she did, then that meant there was no one to stop her back home.
She had to get back, and fast.
She was just about to fire a web, but before Spider-Woman could swing away, she heard what sounded like a web being shot out from a distance. It was far enough away where she wasn't quite sure, but it definitely sounded similar to when she used her own web shooters. Spider-Woman considered for a moment that, if this was indeed the Spider-Woman of this reality, she could ask her for help, but quickly decided against it. Right now, being in a strange dimension and all, the best course of action was likely not to draw any undue attention to herself.
Glancing around, she quickly slipped just inside a window in the building, her spider sense barely enabling her to avoid some rusted out boards as she landed. She quickly moved to the side, finding a hold in the wall just big enough where she could peek out to see who was coming without them being able to see back in. The web shooting sound quickly drew closer, and then the figure landed on the rooftop adjacent to her.
From her position, Spider-Woman could see this world's spider-themed individual very well, and right off the bat, she could tell there were differences. For starters, his or her suit was much different, with dark shades of red and blue along with a black web pattern and a spider symbol on its front side. Really, it was a much more intricately designed and patterned look compared to her own outfit, which she had designed more for practicality and ease in combat than anything else.
The figure stood up from his or her crouched position, looking up at the sky for a moment before glancing around the area, even looking straight her way briefly. Thankfully, he or she didn't seem to notice her, and eventually they shot a web and moved on. However, as he or she did, Spider-Woman's enhanced hearing picked up a slight mutter under their breath just before they got out of range. The voice wasn't discernible, but it was enough that Spider-Woman could be confident that it was a man underneath the mask in this world.
Also, there was a strange sense of familiarity that quickly began gnawing at her. She knew that she recognized that voice from somewhere, but she'd just barely heard it, so there wasn't much to go off. Still, she found herself replaying the sound in her head, trying to discern where she'd heard it before. She quickly gave up on the idea though, deciding to focus on her next course of action.
The first part of her plan she decided on came rather easily: she needed to find a change of clothes. She would need something with a hood still though, or at least something to partially obscure her face. If she had a doppelganger on this earth, particularly one who lived in New York as she did back on her earth, then the last thing she needed was for someone to see her and mistake her for this world's version. After that, she didn't really know what she would do. Maybe do some research on this world to find out if they had any means of traversing the multiverse? Even back on her earth, that wasn't exactly the kind of thing you could just find research on at the local library, but she had to start somewhere.
