Tugging against his restraints, Peter finally managed to tear through them, quickly leaping out through the same exit point that Gwen and Ock had. It came as no surprise when he found them long gone, and there wasn't any trace of where they went. He looked around, surveying the area, but was only met with even more of what he already had: nothing.

Peter put his hands to his head, his mind already beginning to run hard in the direction of the worst-case scenario. This Gwen could obviously handle herself, having survived for who knows how long while fighting people like whom he'd faced, but that fact did nothing to stop where his brain was going. He needed to find the two visitors to his world, and fast. Unfortunately, he didn't have any idea where they might be going.

Plus, he had another problem: even if he did find them quickly, he wouldn't be operating with a full arsenal. Peter glanced down at his busted web shooters; they'd definitely seen better days, that was for sure. As much as he felt he should go after Gwen, he knew that he needed to hurry home and get his spare web shooters before pursuing her. It had taken him way too long to come up with the idea of having an extra set of his most recent web shooters in reserve, but he'd finally managed to do so recently, and there was no time like the present to use them.

The trip back to Peter's apartment was a strange one for him, since he couldn't cover distances as quickly as he was accustomed. Going from rooftop to rooftop was not quite as fluid and timely as he would have liked, but parkouring still got the job done, and soon enough, he was back at his window, where Mary Jane was there to greet him.

"I'm guessing she found you?" Peter's fiancé asked.

"Yeah, but I lost her," Peter said hurriedly, moving past M.J. and straight to where he kept his spare web shooters, yanking open the drawer.

"I'm sorry; I tried to keep her here, but she bailed out before I could do anything," M.J. explained. "I tried to call you, but you left your phone here."

"Sorry about that," Peter replied, only halfway paying attention to her as he grabbed his spare web shooters, testing them out to make sure they were still as functional as he remembered.

"I'm just glad you're alright," Mary Jane said. "Also, she seemed to bail specifically at the mention of a female Doctor Octopus. I'm guessing that's who you were fighting?"

Peter barely even processed his fiancé's words as he completed his quick check of his devices.

"Peter?"

"Huh?"

"I asked about if you saw a female Doc Ock out there?" M.J. repeated.

"Oh, yeah," Peter said quickly as he secured his usual wrist-mounted devices, sliding in a small case of web fluid in each as well. "Gwen went after her, but she caught me off guard and webbed my wrist so only she could go. I need to hurry if I'm going to catch up to her."

Peter started to move in the direction of his window, but Mary Jane stepped in front of him.

"Please move," Peter asked, a little frustration slipping into his tone.

"You need a minute," M.J. insisted.

"What I need is to get out there and find her," Peter corrected.

"You don't see what's happening right now, do you?"

"M.J, I can't do this right now," Peter said. He tried to step around her, but his fiancé refused to get out of the way.

"You need to do this right now," she said. "Both of you do."

"What are you talking about?" Peter asked.

"You telling her not to come with you before you even thought there was a bigger threat, her stopping you from following her...you're so focused on trying to protect her that you can't see that she's doing the same thing," Mary Jane explained. "If you two keep trying to be each other's hero, it just might end with BOTH of you getting hurt."
