Angie was serving her last table before her shift was over. She was in the from talking to the hostess. The beautiful red Impala pulled into the parking lot. Angie walked outside the diner and walked up to the window

"What are you doing here?" Angie chuckled

"I'm picking you up from work, and we are going to do something," Oscar replied with a smile, India was in the passenger seat

"I picked out your clothes, and I'll take your car home when I'm done shift," India added

"You picked up a shift?" Angie questioned

"It's a Friday night, Angie. I'm going to make bank tonight," India responded

"I'm done when my last table leaves. They just got their dessert, so can you give me 30 minutes, please?" Angie begged

"Yeah," he responded

——

Angie got into the car, and India started her shift. Angie was nervous about what was in store for her. Oscar began to drive, and the sky was pink. The sun was slowly setting.

"Where are we going?" Angie asked, looking down the highway

"It's a surprise," Oscar answered with a smile

"Is there going to be food involved because I'm hungry?" Angie questioned, staring at him

Oscar chuckled. "Of course, there is food. I know you well enough to bring food."

Angie smiled, looking at the road. "Are we there yet?" Angie asked jokingly

Oscar looked at her with annoyance, and Angie began to chuckle.

——

Oscar pulled into the parking lot of the beach. The last date they had with each other. Angie looked over at Oscar, and he smiled.

"Leave your phone in here. I want no distractions. I want to make up for Valentine's Day. You deserve better than that," he explained. Angie looked at him, confused. "I'm going to leave my phone behind as well," he added, shutting off his phone and placing it in the center console.

Angie followed, putting her phone in silence and placing it in the center console. They both got out of the car and grabbed the stuff that he had in his trunk.

They walked onto the beach and set up the blanket and snacks that he had gotten. They sat on the blanket and watched the waves crash onto the sand.

It felt like they were young again. Angie needed this; she had been through a lot the past few months and hadn't taken time to relax. She been tense that she forgot how it felt to be free.

"Thank you for this," Angie thanked, looking at him

"No problem, we don't need to talk. I want to be in your presence," Oscar replied, opening his sub

Angie smiled at him, looking back at the ocean. She was able to enjoy the scenery for a few minutes until her doubts interrupted her relaxation. Why was he doing this? What did he want? What did he do?

"What is this for?" She asked cautiously, grabbing her water

"I just want to take you out, spend some time with you," he explained, smiling

"Everything is fine, nothing happened?" Angie asked worriedly, not hiding her doubts

"Everything is fine, talk to me. What's wrong?" Oscar asked worriedly, putting down his sub

Angie stumbled. "I don't know. I feel like when we see each other, something negative happens. For instance, the last time we were here, it caused a breakup. The next time we see each other, the truce ends. Following that, you have to find me abused and caught in the rain. Then recently, everything that happened with Monica," she explained
