Emily oscillated between anger at Mingyu for pulling her into this dangerous game and gratitude for his unwavering support and protection.

One fateful night, while hiding in a rundown cabin, the peace shattered when they heard footsteps approaching. The sound of gravel crunching under boots sent Emily's heart racing. Mingyu turned to her, eyes narrowed, and motioned for silence.

Emily's throat tightened as she clutched the small handgun he had insisted she carry. The cold metal felt heavy in her palm, a stark reminder of their reality.

Before they could react, the door burst open, and two armed men stormed in. The sight of them sent Emily's pulse into overdrive. Mingyu was a blur of motion, quickly disarming one attacker with a swift, practiced move. Emily, her hands trembling, aimed and fired at the second man, missing but managing to startle him.

"Get down!" Mingyu shouted as he tackled the first attacker to the ground, a flurry of limbs and grunts filling the small cabin. Emily watched, a mix of fear and admiration swirling in her gut.

The fight was swift but brutal. Mingyu subdued the attackers, tying them up and making sure they couldn't escape. As the adrenaline began to fade, the reality of the situation hit Emily like a cold wave. She had been involved in something life-threatening, and the rush of fear sent a shiver down her spine.

"You okay?" Mingyu asked, his voice softer now as he surveyed her wide eyes.

Emily nodded, although she felt a tremor of doubt. "I... I didn't expect this to escalate so quickly."
