"Talk to me sweetie...please?" Kamala whispered. She could feel the tension radiating off of you, as your mother she always could
"I just want to be left alone"
"I can't just-"
"Mom please!"
"Savannah"
You broke. Yanking the door open you found both of your parents, Kamala and Doug, standing in front of it, concern etched upon their faces, but that didn't phase you. Your anger was on 100.
"You think I WANTED to move here!? You think I WANTED to leave my friends and my school to live in a fucking white house!? I didn't want this!" you screamed, tears streaming down your face. Enough was enough. Hiding your emotions wasn't worth it anymore.
"Savannah please don't yell at us-" came Dad's voice
"You didn't ASK me how I felt before we moved here! I didn't-" However your words faltered, your throat seeming to close.
"Sav-"
"I didn't a-ask to come here! Nobody as-asked me a-anything" you cried
You didn't know when your mom had gotten closer or when Cole and Ella joined the conversation in your bedroom -- but when you felt her arms wrap around you and the knowing scent of vanilla, all you could do was sink into her embrace.
"Mama"
"I know sweetie, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry honey" she whispered, placing a kiss on your forehead.
"It's okay to feel hurt about the decision we made Sav. You have every right to be upset that you had to leave everything you knew. Your life changed...probably more than ours did. Trust me when I say that Mom and I are so sorry for not taking the time to really sit down and talk about your feelings before we moved here. We could've done better in realizing that going from day-to-day life to your mom being Vice President and moving to Washington where you aren't familiar" Dad said, speaking in the softest tone he used for moments like these.
Your tears continued to fall as Mom held you, trying to regulate your fast heartbeat.
"Talk to me love, what's going on" Mom's hand ran up and down your back
"I miss how things used to be"
"I think we all do Sav" spoke Cole, "It's harder not having our parents around as often as they used to be, even though their jobs were demanding then too. It's different and that sucks"
Sensing that I had more to say, Mom quietly asked that everyone leave my room so that we could have a private conversation. Once everyone left, Kamala positioned the both of you so that you would be more comfortable, her arms still wrapped tightly around you.
"I miss when I was the main focus...and I know that sounds selfish but I miss having you just to us. Now it's us and the world"
"I understand Sav. I really do and I'm sorry that I didn't see the signs earlier. But I promise to make it up to you. However, you have to promise me something"
"Okay"
"Promise me that the next time you feel this way you won't shut me out. I can't read your mind Sav"
After a few moments of silence you lifted your pink, "I promise"
★★★★★★★★★★★★
this one is so random but I really wanted to write from a different perspective, and yes Doug is in this one. while I would love to have Kamala all to myself, I also absolutely adore the relationship they share. They obviously adore each other, and ugh the way Doug talks about her 😩
anyways that's all I have unless I come up with more ideas/things to post! as always, vote, leave suggestions, and tell me your thoughts on this one!
sincerely,
kallie :)
