The Fourth Daughter

Chapter 9

Food at last, eating was one of the few things in this world that brings the girl joy especially in this situation even with some considerable setbacks.

Over the week of her confinement of tortue consisting of pure bedrest; it was a pretty rare event for her to have the mittens off which when on made it difficult for Elvira to grab or really do anything with her hands, so for every meal the girl has been literally spoon fed by the lady and unfortunately it was no different in the dining room, besides the audience that includes the daughters.

Not that Elvira was exactly jumping for joy or anything, it frustrated the girl to no end that the lady acts like both her hands were broken instead of just the one fractured leg, yet Elvira complied enough to be fed actual normal food; she has endured worse for a meal.

After waiting for the array of maids eho of course remained silent while keeping their eyes downcast which Elvira observed and rather robotically pushed carts to come through and set down the dishes and drinks, did they all finally get to eat.

Like clockwork the girl opened her mouth for the spoonful of sweet fruit and porridge mix, chew and swallow then repeat for another spoonful the lady dutifully offers to the girls pouty lips.

Eventually the spoon hits the bottom of the bowl "Good job darling," the lady cooed at the girl as she unnecessarily wiped away the girl's unpleased face with a napkin "You ate all your food without a fuss, Mama's so proud," Lady Dimitrescu praisingly stated as she took away the empty dish and attended to her own meal.

This kind of talk always made Elvira feel flustered; even moreso with the daughters witnessing all this, choosing to actively ignore the chattering of conversation happening around her, Elvira slighlty pushed the familiar sippy cup near her to disdainfully before she rested her head on one arm as a cushion and the other over her ear taking solace in the peaceful darkness.

It was peaceful enough for Elvira to slighly to doze off even, until a giant hand gently caressed her hair; causing the girl to be startled.

Now alert Elvira jolted up ignoring the snickering across the table to look at the offender, that being of course Lady Dimitrescu.

"My apologies darling," the lady murmured as she gently cupped the girl's unamused face "It is not time for nap time yet," softly chuckling at the blush now spreading on the girls face as she lifted the girl out of the high chair onto her lap.

Also placing the sterling sippy cup in front of Elvira, the girl of course always despising it's reappearance, glancing up at the lady made Elvira sulk even more as it was obvious in Alcina’s stern eyes she was not getting out of this even if she threw it across the room, again; Elvira only had gotten to do that once over the week which was totally worth the slight reprimand received for such "misbehavior".

Yet even then no matter how many times she threw it, attempted to wriggle away or made a fit it didn't matter in the end as she always had to drink from the silver cup.

Under the lady's gaze the girl slowly went reaching for the cup silently seething as she glumly drank the sweet juice concoction until it was all gone.

"Mother?" Daniela's voice sweetly inquired.

"Yes my lovely?" Lady Dimitrescu cooed looking at her second youngest as she took the cup offered from the now youngest girl and slightly shaking to assure it was empty.

"Could we perhaps spend some time in the library together, I would love to read to the baby," Daniela excitedly asked her Mother, awaiting for approval.

"Hmm, perhaps," Lady Dimitrescu thought as she gently caressed Elvira's hair.

"Yes, thats would be a great idea," Lady Dimitrescu agreed causing the redhead to squeal happily "It would do some good for your baby sister and I to do something else for a bit anyways," the lady drawled.
