I was on my way home from school, my mind buzzing with thoughts of homework and friends, when I suddenly noticed a small child chasing a ball into the street. My heart dropped as I realized the kid was completely oblivious to the oncoming truck.

"No!" I shouted, panic surging through me. Time seemed to freeze as I sprinted forward, my feet pounding against the pavement. I barely registered anything around me; all I could focus on was that child in danger. I reached out, grabbing their arm and pulling them back just as the truck roared past.

Before everything went dark, I glanced back at the child. Relief washed over me as I saw them standing safely on the curb, wide-eyed but unharmed. They were safe. A smile tugged at my lips, even amidst the pain. That moment brought a flicker of happiness, knowing I had done something good.

But sadness quickly swept in. My life flashed before my eyes, filled not with laughter, but with the emptiness of my childhood. Thoughts of my family flooded my mind—those who had abandoned me in the orphanage. They had left me behind, and now I would never get the chance to find them, to understand why they had chosen to walk away.

With each fading heartbeat, I felt the weight of my loneliness. I longed for the love I never truly knew, for connections I had always craved but could never grasp. Tears welled in my eyes, not for myself, but for the lost opportunities and the family that would remain a mystery forever.

As darkness enveloped me, a profound sorrow settled in my heart—a longing for a chance that would never come, a final wish to know where I truly belonged. And then, just like that, it was all gone.
