The next morning, sunlight filtered through the dorm windows as you slowly blinked awake, feeling the warmth of blankets and the sounds of soft breathing around you. The girls were still asleep, sprawled out in various positions under the blankets that had cocooned you all through the night. Momo was curled up near the edge of the bed, Ochako had an arm slung over Tsu, and Mina was stretched out like a starfish, somehow managing to take up more space than anyone else. You felt a lingering warmth from the night before, a sense of comfort and belonging that came from being surrounded by friends who'd not only accepted your secret about Bakugo but had been genuinely thrilled about it. It was reassuring.
Carefully, you slipped out of the blanket pile, trying not to wake anyone as you tiptoed toward the door. A little morning air sounded nice, and you figured you could grab some coffee from the kitchen while everyone else was still asleep.
But as you stepped out into the hallway, you nearly collided with the last person you expected to see-Bakugo. He was just outside the door, looking as surprised to see you as you were to see him. His hair was a little messier than usual, and he wore his usual frown, though it softened a little when he saw you.
"Oh, uh, morning," you stammered, feeling heat rise to your cheeks as you remembered the things you'd confessed to the girls last night.
Bakugo looked away, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "Yeah... morning." He shifted his weight, seeming out of place in the quiet dorm hallway. "What were you all doing in there anyway? Thought you'd moved in or something."
You smiled, feeling a spark of your usual confidence return. "Girls' night. Snacks, movies, a little gossip. The usual."
He raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. "Tch. Talking about useless stuff, huh?"
"Well... not all of it was useless," you said, letting the words hang in the air just long enough for him to catch your meaning. You thought you saw his gaze flicker with something unspoken, but he quickly masked it with a scoff.
"Whatever," he muttered, though his expression softened a little as he looked at you.
The silence between you stretched, and you could feel that familiar tension from the night you'd spent talking with him. There was a question in his eyes, something he wanted to say but seemed hesitant about. Just as you were about to ask, Mina's voice rang out from the doorway.
"Ooooh, what's this? Morning hallway rendezvous?" She grinned, leaning against the doorframe as the other girls began waking up, curious eyes glancing between you and Bakugo.
You immediately felt your face flush, while Bakugo scowled, clearly thrown off guard. "Shut it, raccoon eyes!" he snapped, though there was no real bite to his tone.
Ochako and Tsu exchanged looks, both barely containing their giggles. "Don't mind us," Ochako said innocently. "We're just observing."
Bakugo's scowl deepened, and he turned his glare on the girls. "All of you extras better keep your mouths shut." But even as he said it, there was a hint of red in his cheeks, and you could tell he wasn't entirely annoyed-just awkward, maybe even a little embarrassed.
Mina nudged you with a grin, whispering just loud enough for everyone (including Bakugo) to hear, "See, Y/n? I told you there was something there!"
Bakugo's head whipped toward you, his eyes narrowing in suspicion. "Told her what?"
You shot Mina a look, trying to silently tell her to keep quiet, but the damage was done. She only laughed, shrugging innocently. "Oh, nothing, nothing. Just... things only girls talk about."
Bakugo looked like he was about to protest, but instead he just muttered something under his breath, clearly frustrated. You wanted to ease his discomfort somehow, but before you could think of what to say, Kaminari appeared at the end of the hallway.
"Oh! Bakugo and Y/n? At it again?" Kaminari called out with a huge grin, drawing even more attention.
Bakugo turned to glare at him, his entire face bright red now. "Shut it, Pikachu, before I send an explosion so far up your ass that you'll explode from the inside!"
Kaminari just laughed, clearly unfazed as he gave you both a thumbs-up. "Awww, you two are so cute. Just don't go sneaking around too much, okay? Or else we'll have to add more pages to the Bakugo and Y/n book."
Bakugo groaned, throwing his hands up in frustration as the girls dissolved into laughter around you. You couldn't help but laugh a little too, though you felt for Bakugo; he wasn't used to this kind of teasing, and it clearly made him uncomfortable. Still, there was something reassuring about the lighthearted way your friends responded. It made the whole situation feel more normal, less scary.
When the laughter finally died down, Bakugo muttered something about having to get breakfast and stomped off toward the kitchen, throwing one last glare over his shoulder at Kaminari.
You sighed, both amused and a little embarrassed, watching him go. As soon as he was out of earshot, Ochako nudged you with a grin. "You know, he didn't deny anything. That has to mean something, right?"
You shook your head, but a smile tugged at your lips. "You guys are impossible."
Momo gave you a gentle smile, placing a hand on your shoulder. "We just want you to be happy, Y/n. And it's clear there's something special between you two, even if he doesn't realize it yet."
You felt warmth spread through your chest, appreciating their support more than you could put into words. Whatever Bakugo felt-or didn't feel-you knew your friends had your back.
"Thanks, guys," you said, looking at each of them. "I really mean it."
With a round of soft smiles and nods, the girls started down the hall, chattering about plans for breakfast and training. As you followed them, you glanced toward the kitchen, catching a glimpse of Bakugo standing there, his back turned but his posture relaxed as he poured coffee into a mug.
Maybe, just maybe, they were right.
