Morning had arrived, and Bayu was awakened by someone banging on his bedroom door.
"Wake up! Hurry up!" came a voice from behind the door.
"Just a minute," Bayu replied.
He opened the door to find the innkeeper standing in front of him, looking frightened.
"Get up, lazy! We're in danger!" the innkeeper look scared.
"What's going on?" Bayu asked.
"The ancient monster has arrived, we need to leave!" the innkeeper urged in a panic.
Hearing this, Bayu felt angry about their arrival.
"Ugh, them again," Bayu grumbled.
He quickly grabbed his belongings and left the inn with the innkeeper.
"So where is the monster?" Bayu asked.
"In the village center, more specifically at the square," the innkeeper replied, hastily packing his things.
Once he finished, he headed out with others, but instead of going towards evacuation, Bayu headed straight for the village center.
"Hey, that's the way to the village center!" the innkeeper shouted.
"Go on, I'll handle them," Bayu replied defiantly.
"Are you crazy? You want to take on those weird monsters?" he said, preparing a crystal from his bag.
He placed the crystal in a small pocket of his bag and tied it around his waist.
Bayu ran until he spotted two monsters chasing villagers. Seeing this, he wanted to help. He pulled out a blue crystal, granting him control over water.
He summoned water from a nearby well and attacked the monsters with it. His assault knocked both monsters down, enraging them.
Before they could get up, Bayu took out a yellow lightning crystal, aimed it at the monsters, and zapped them. He unleashed bolts of lightning until the monsters were defeated.
"Take that stupid monster" Bayu said, then continued on, leaving behind the villagers he had saved.
As he made his way to the village center, Bayu saw some fighters battling monsters there. Observing them, he noticed that several crystals had lost their color and turned gray, discarded on the ground. He realized that the crystals had limited energy.
"Oh no, they can run out! I need to conserve them," Bayu thought as he ran.
After a while of sprinting and fighting off monsters in his path, he finally arrived at the village center. There, he spotted the large monster that had chased him earlier, surrounded by a group of other monsters.
"That must be the one using telepathy to talk to me," Bayu muttered to himself.
He felt a surge of anger and charged toward the monster, disregarding the fear he had felt before.
As Bayu got closer, he was blocked by a swarm of monsters eager to attack him. However, he chose to push forward and used the crystals he had to defeat them. He unleashed the powers of the crystals, taking down the monsters in his way.
Finally, he was close enough to the large monster. It looked at him for a moment, then vanished just as Bayu arrived.
"Now it disappears?" Bayu exclaimed, frustrated that the creature had just left him there.
Feeling humiliated, he slammed his bag down and was about to shout when he heard someone else sream.
"Damn, that monster ran away again!"
Realizing others also wanted to kill the monster, he thought about teaming up with them. Bayu rushed toward the group of monsters and resumed fighting.
The number of monsters decreased rapidly. Bayu noticed five other people fighting alongside him.
After several hours of battling, a group of armored knights arrived on horseback.
"Are those knights from the kingdom?" Bayu murmured.
The knights approached and instructed everyone to rest.
"Thank you for your efforts, villagers. You may rest now, we've set up tents for you," one knight said.
Feeling exhausted, Bayu complied and went with the others. They rested in the tents prepared by the knights.
After a while, the knights provided them with food. While eating, they introduced themselves. There were six of them: two women, Windi and Ema, and four men, Wahyu, Arip, Budi, and Bayu.
They chatted for quite some time until it became midday, and Bayu decided to continue his journey.
"Thanks, but I have to go. Excuse me," Bayu said.
"Wait, where are you going?" Wahyu asked.
"Are you planning to hunt that cowardly monster?" Windi interjected.
"Yeah, something like that," Bayu replied.
"How about we go together? After all, we all have business with that monster," Ema suggested.
The others fell silent, thinking for a moment.
"Besides, it could be beneficial for us. Alright, I'll join," Arip agreed.
The others also supported Ema's idea, and they quickly prepared their supplies.
Ema and Windi went to gather equipment for their journey, Wahyu and Budi headed to a destroyed weapon shop to retrieve some weapons, while Arip searched for water bottles to fill. They all split up to gather what they needed.
Meanwhile, Bayu collected some items and tried to craft something. He couldn't drill a hole in the crystal to make a necklace since the crystal was too fragile, so he decided to create a belt and gloves that could hold four to six crystals.
While crafting, he noticed some bamboo nearby. Remembering a video he had watched about making a bamboo gun, he fashioned one and crafted arrow tips using the crystals.
They searched the entire village until late afternoon. They regrouped and shared their findings. They divided their supplies and weapons among themselves.
Arip took a small armor and two small swords, Wahyu took heavy armor, a shield, and a large sword, Budi and Ema took bows, while Windi gathered some crystals. As they selected their gear, they realized Bayu had not returned.
Suddenly, they heard a dragging sound, it was Bayu bringing some equipment he had made earlier. Bayu distributed the items he had crafted and took a crossbow he found there.
"Alright, I'm done," Bayu said.
"But does anyone know where that monster lives?" Arip asked.
"As far as I know, they vanish in smoke when they leave," Ema replied.
"They're in the gloomy kingdom to the west," Bayu said.
They all looked westward but didn't see any kingdom.
"There's nothing there," Wahyu said.
"Strange, am I the only one who can see it?" Bayu wondered.
They recalled Bayu's story about how the monster had communicated with him through telepathy while they were in the tent. Some suggested they follow him. After a brief discussion, they continued their journey westward.
