Chapter Twenty-Six

- Third POV -

MIKAELSON
COMPOUND The next day, in Klaus's and Christy's sunny room, Klaus paints on his canvas. He looks at a picture frame of himself and Christy small smiles on Christy's dresser.

He's been calling her, but she doesn't reply. No text messages from her either.

Unable to paint with a dark cloud hovering over him, Klaus puts away his painting materials and walks away.

THE FRENCH QUARTER

Now, out and about, Klaus walks on the sidewalk. He suddenly, stops upon feeling like he's being watched.

Klaus turns around to look behind him. No one is there. He then, looks across the road and sees an old enemy from his sire-line, Gaspar Cortez. A vampire.

A trolley drives by and Gaspar is gone.

Klaus becomes bewildered and walks back to the compound.

MIKAELSON COMPOUND

After Klaus returned back home, he's in the study with Elijah and Freya. Klaus is gently leaning backwards against the desk.

"Gaspar Cortez. I saw him." Klaus said.

"Isn't he dead?" Freya said, sitting on the sofa.

"Or unless, Marcalos resurrected him." Elijah said, sitting in a armchair.

"Marcalos has a knack for resurrecting people from the dead." Klaus said. "But I am certain that the Underworld Elder God has also resurrected Gaspar's father and brothers as well."

"What if Marcalos didn't resurrect Gasper's father and brothers?" Elijah said. "He could've just resurrected Gaspar."

"And he has 24 hours." Klaus said.

"We don't know where he is. He could be anywhere in New Orleans." Elijah said.

"You two handle Gasper, I have to meet Vincent at the Lafayette Cemetery." Freya said and walks away.

Klaus and Elijah exchange looks at each other and Klaus looks away.

"Have you heard anything from Christy?" Elijah asked.

"Not since, she left for usual Mount Orasani business." Klaus said.

"What did you do this time?" Elijah asked.

"I should've kept my mouth shut, but instead, I said something idiotic." Klaus said.

"Christy will contact you when she's ready." Elijah said.

"And if she doesn't?" Klaus asked.

"Then, don't give up, Niklaus." Elijah said. "You and Christy has had tense quarrels before and almost separated, but the two of you will make amends."

Klaus and Elijah exchange looks at each other. Elijah gets up and walks up next to Klaus and gently puts a hand on his shoulders.
