"Mom,I'm going on a walk. I'll be back soon!"
Lynn said before opening the front door and walking out with her headphones on,her phone in her pocket, and key in the other pocket.
Lynn always loved going on walks,regardless of the weather,season,time, or an,reading and music.But this time, things were kind of different, She and her parents had moved from Toronto in Canada to Minneapoli,Minnesota, in the States about 7 months ago.
While Lynn did enjoy traveling,moving away from home after living there for 15 years isn't exactly the best thing..
Nonetheless,Lynn did enjoy living in Minneapolis,even if she missed her her hometown and everything there. As melancholy as we can be,we can also be as joyfulLynn was walking through the streets,crossing roads ruthlessly like there wasn't anything else.
Eventually, she neared a house 4 blocks away from hers,a house from which you could hear supposedly someone practicing a song they'd written.
Lynn was curious as to who it was,and she was a tad bit excited that there's likely someone in town who loves music just as much as she does,though she decided to just keep walking on and mind her business.Eventually,she got to a park nearby,with tall spruce trees left and right,and grass as green as emerald. She sat down on a bench next to a tall-ish tree that had been surrounded by a few dandelions and marigolds.
Lynn started slowly drifting off into thought,she was overthinking anything that came to mind.Time passed while she thought,but she was interrupted when she noticed a boy walking down the park. The boy was wearing a dark blue hoodie,had long-ish black hair, and had pretty pale skin,from what Lynn could tell. She thought he looked cool,though made nothing of it. Just as Lynn was about to look away,the boy turned his head as he felt someone staring and looked at her.
"..Hi..?"
he said while looking.. shyly?.. at her.
Lynn was a tad bit stunned,obviously by getting noticed and by the fact he said hi and didn't just give her a dirty look or something"..Heyy.."
She replied awkwardly,now looking him in the eye."Uhh..what's your name..?"
the boy asked quietly,now looking her in the eye too."Lynn. My name's Lynn,Yours?"
she answered, ending on a question. She walked a bit closer to him since they weren't even close to being face to face."Oh,nice name. Mine's Robbie."
He said,now seeming less shy and more friendly."Thanks,yours is really nice too,"
Lynn smiled slightly at him.
The two sat in a bit of silence until Robbie spoke up ;
"uhhh,so...you like music?""Yeah,i love music,i write some from time to time, too." Lynn answered,caught on guard at the mention of music. "wait,You write music?" Robbie asked,now interested in her writing.
"Yeah,i do,whenever i get an idea for a song. Id rather just stick to playing bass or guitar though." Lynn stated again and ended with a slight chuckle and her eyebrows raised,seemingly slightly excited."Nice,i kinda write from time to time,for my band - Not often, though,im the drummer so im not the most useful when it comes to writing,yknow." he said,ending with a slight chuckle at his last remark,now looking almost entirely comfortable and not nervous at all.
"Wait, you play in a band?? that's so cool,dude. I've always wanted to be in a band if im being honest..And its pretty cool that you write too!" Lynn replied,very clearly enthusiastic about their conversation. "Oh,thanks a lot,actually. That's really nice of you to say.." The black haired boy said,"i might have to go in a bit though,i have band practice soon." he added."Oh,yeah,no problem,also, that's fine,dont worry about it.. I'll see you around?" She answered with her eyebrows raised and a small lighthearted smile on her face.
"Yeah,definitely,see you around,Lynn." he said with the same type of smile on his face, "yeah,See you around too,Robbie." She agreed as he started walking away slowly and waved 'bye' to each other.Once Robbie was gone,and Lynn was alone, she again sat in silence, thinking and overthinking,reminincing and remembering things that happened years ago. A while amount of time had passed by the moment Lynn noticed she'd been out for 2 whole hours,she was pretty surprised when she realized and quickly started walking back home. As she passed the house from which she'd heard someone practicing,she started noticing the details of it;
it was a big house,
painted white
,the garage and its door on the front (eg. the Smith's house from Rick and Morty😭😭),
the lawn was green with a few red poppies here and there,
and the front door was a dark-ish wooden brown,that being the majority of what Lynn could point out.She continued on her way back home. By the time she had gotten there,it was kind of dark even though it was about 5pm. She opened the door,got inside, and took off her shoes. She then went upstairs into her room,then started picking out a CD to listen to. She looked through all her CDs,some of which were Nirvana,others Skin Yard,a few Green Day ones,and many others. Eventually, she picked out 'Saviors' by Green Day and put it in the CD player. She went and sat on her bed,getting comfortable,and picked up her journal with a pen that was sitting on her bedside table. Lynn started writing about what'd happened in the day,including a few small details while listening to the album play.
It was about 7 pm when Lynn decided she'd written all she could (which was half part actually all she wanted to and not all she could). She thought of going to sleep earlier than usual but went against it and practiced bass for an hour or two instead.
