Chapter- 3
"Minister..?" She asked with a puzzled expression.
"Haan, minister. Jinke saath tum kidnap huyi thi." Varun explained. "Tum unhi ka surname bhi lagati ho. Tum unki beti ho?" He asked her calmly.
"Main unhe nahi jaanti. Main bas unke ghar pe thi kidnapping ke time." She replied.
Varun looked at her with a puzzled expression. "Kyu?" He asked.
She thought for a while, trying to remember something. "Pa- pata nahi." Was her simple reply.
"Huh? Tum kaha rehti ho? Kya karti ho? Shaadi shuda ho ki nahi, kuch yaad hai? Tumhare maa-baap kon hain?" He asked her, getting confused.
"Main... Pata nahi... Yaad nahi." She said as her brows furrowed with utter confusion. She looked down holding her bandaged head.
"Arey.. bas, sir. Inhe aaram karne do. Bohot kamzori ho gayi hai inko. Sar mein gehri chot aayi hai aur phir being kidnapped like that and seeing someone get killed before your own eyes is a traumatic experience." Doctor Samaira said getting inside the room.
Varun looked at her with irritation written on his face. "Ab main ye kaha rehti hai voh bhi nahi puchu? Aap isey hospital mein rakh lengi baki ki zindagi?" He asked sarcastically.
"Agar patient ko apni aakhiri saans tak help ki zarurat hai toh haan, koi nayi baat nahi hai. Rahi baat Sonakshi ki, abhi uski health mein koi zyada difference nahi aaya hai. Do-teen dinn toh rakhna hi padega hospital mein.
Time ke saath jaise-jaise injury heal hogi waise-waise sab yaad aa jayega, Officer.""Achha. Thank you for the information. Rakhiye inhe apne paas, main MHA se baat karke aaya. Hamen toh jaane de." He stormed outside and called the MHA. He was cursing him under his breath. "Hello?_ _ _ Yes sir, uss ladki ko hosh aa gaya hai. Sonakshi Sinha naam hai uska, address, occupation, wagerah kuchh nahi yaad. Kehti hai ki uska minister ke saath uska koi sambandh nahi, bas uss din unke ghar pe thi. Ye bhi nahi yaad ki kyu thi. Abh uska kya karna hai?"
"Suno Varun, we don't know who that girl is but she could be an important member of the minister's family. Aur tumhe toh pata hi hai ki minister ne apne family background ko kitna mysterious aur private rakha hai. Media ko uss ladki ke baare mein kuch pata nahi chalna chahiye. We don't want any false rumours going on. Baki saare officers ko free kar do. And.. voh do.. kya names the unke? Yes, Shahaan and Abhijeet. These two officers and you, stay back. I'll meet you three, first thing tomorrow morning. Is that clear?" The MHA explained on the call.
"Huh? Stay back? You mean the whole night??" Varun asked in shock. He would be dead if he goes to his mother straight in the morning.
"Yes, the whole night. We don't want any more casualties to happen. Only you can be trusted." He reasoned.
"Wha- but- ugh, yes sir. Jai hind." "Jai hind." The call ended and Varun sighed. He ordered all the officers except for Shahaan and Abhijeet to leave.
"Par ham kyu nahi, sir??" Shahaan asked desperately. He wanted to go home and sleep. But Abhijeet was rather the type of person to get comfortable anywhere and so he had no complaints.
"Voh Jo madam andar baithi hai na uski safety ke liye. Upar se orders hai. Yahi par ruko." Varun informed.
"Toh sir ham dono kyu? Hero toh aap ho na. Hame toh jaane do." He asked."Ek ghumau tumhare kaan ke niche ya phir chup chap ruk rahe ho?" "Nahi, sir. Ruk Raha hu na. Main kaha jaaunga?" He chuckled nervously and sat down on one of the waiting chairs outside the room. Feeling Defeated. "Karwa li beizzati? Baith abh yahi pe. Waise bhi, ek akeli ladki ki raksha karna toh hamara dharm hai." Abhijeet said getting sentimental. "Apni mahabharat band kar nahi toh Tera vadh karvata hun abhi uss Ravan se. Khudki raksha karni toh aati nahi." "Tere se toh acchi hi kar leta hu." "Achha? Le aaja, ladh le. Mere ek ghuse mein dher hai tu."
"Tum dono apna munh band kar lo nahi toh main uth gaya toh tumhari raksha upar wala bhi nahi kar payega." Varun said cracking the bones of his knuckles.
Both of them shut their mouths instantly. He sat with his hands crossed. Remembering something, he went inside her room. "Tumhara pho-" He stopped in his words, seeing her asleep. Walking towards her, he put the phone on the side table beside her. His gaze shifted towards her face, how lovely she was. Her beautiful, long lashes rested down, her cherry lips were so perfect, the light blush on her cheeks due to her fever added more graceful beauty. She was calm being, not scared nor worried but somewhere lost. Never showed any emotions, just confused, barely remembering her own name. She would be miserable when she remembers everything and it will be scarier.
What will she do? Where will she go? What if her parents really are dead? Where would she live then? She would be lost in this crowded world with selfish people who don't care about anyone or anything. What if she never remembers where she is from? Her life would be doomed! And where will she live till she remembers who she belongs to? It would be the worst horror of anyone's life. I'll look for the cases in which people have lost their daughters or wives or sisters or whatever. Will she recognise their face?
All these thoughts were coming to his mind and he sat down on the chair beside her. He sighed. "Sahi keh rahe the voh dono. Poor thing. Itni bholi ladki maine aaj tak nahi dekhi." He whispered to himself. He picked up her phone and opened it. It was barely working. He went to the call logs, just one number saved which was informed out of service when called. There were no chats. He opened youtube and she didn't have anything on her account. There was nothing. Absolutely nothing.Chapter Ends..
