                        Chapter- 4

"You two! Wake up before I kill you!" He told his juniors who were sleeping on the waiting chairs like babies. "Uth jao! Kaise bhikariyo ki tarah padhe ho!" Varun kicked their legs making them wake up suddenly.

They stood up quickly and saluted. "S-sorry sir!" Shahaan mumbled half asleep. "Coffee, aap sir piyenge?" Abhijeet asked. "Hain!?" Varun looked at him with a confused expression. Shahaan jolted him to his senses.

"M- Mera matlab sir, aap coffee piyenge?" He corrected his lousy sentence.

"Zarurat tumhe hai! Go and freshen up yourselves!" Varun commanded. "And yes, do bring me a cup of coffee." He added sternly.

"Sir!" They saluted once again and left. He sighed. "Inka main kya karu!?" Varun asked himself in disappointment.

After about an hour, the MHA was inside the hospital. He approached Varun. "Good morning sir." "Morning, Varun. Where's.." "Yes, right this way sir."

Varun led him to her room. "Sonakshi aati hi hogi, voh washroom gayi thi." He informed and sat him down.

"Great job! Pal-pal ki khabar rakhi hai tumne. Just like I asked. He praised Varun. "Vaise.. tumhare juniors nahi dikh rahe." He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Arey kya bataun sir, raat ko itni jaldi dono ki aankh lag gayi aur subah itni der se uthe hain dono ke dono. They've gone to freshen up and have breakfast right now." Varun complained.

The MHA laughed. "Then discipline them." He suggested. Varun just shook his head with disappointment visible on his face.

Just then, Sonakshi entered with her IV drip attached to her hand along with its pole that she had been walking with. She was about to get discharged so Varun had bought her a simple dress to wear outside. Because her other clothes were stained with blood and she could certainly not wear a hospital gown outside.

She came in and her eyes caught the MHA who was sitting in front of her hospital bed

She came in and her eyes caught the MHA who was sitting in front of her hospital bed. She looked at Varun with a questioning expression. The MHA passed a generous smile and she bowed her head slightly. She sat down in front of him.

"How are you feeling now?" He asked politely. "Better." She replied with a low voice. "So.., aapko kuch nahi yaad ki aap uss raat waha kyon thi?" She simply shook her head. "Hm, Koi baat nahi. Apna address, mummy papa ka naam, kuch bhi?" She shook her head again. "Maine yaad karne ki koshish ki par.."

"Koi baat nahi. You rest." The MHA turned to Varun. "Varun, can I have a word with you in private?" "Sure, sir." They walked out of the room. She looked down and just played with her bangles.

The MHA held Varun's shoulder tightly and started,
"Tumhe pata hai abhi main kaha se aa raha hun? Interrogation office se, uss kidnapper ko hosh aa gaya aur voh pata hai kya keh raha hai? Ki Sonakshi minister ki patni hai! Uski shaadi kyu huyi, kaise huyi voh toh philhal kuch nahi pata par ye baat bahar nahi nikalni chahiye." He told him.

Varun's eyes could pop out in shock. "Kya!? Voh minister uss ladki ke baap ki umar ka hai! Itni choti ladki se iss umar mein shaadi karke usey kya karna tha!? Aur ye ladki.. aise kaise isne shaadi kar li usse."

"Vahi main bhi soch raha hu. Kuch toh wajah hogi. Par philhal toh voh itni si umr mein vidhwa ho gayi hai." He said with a sigh. "Par abhi usey kuch nahi batana." He explained carefully.

"Aur Jab tak hamen sari baat pata nahi chalti tabh tak Sonakshi kaha rahegi? Koi jail mein toh rakhenge nahi." Varun asked.

"Vahi toh.., Jab tak Sonakshi ko yaad nahi aa jata ki uska piyar Kahan hai. Usey rehne ki jagah toh chahiye, par voh kaha rahegi? Meri toh kuch samajh nahi aa raha." The MHA said getting puzzled.

"Arey, toh usme itna sochne ki kya baat hai? Sonakshi ko Varun sir ke dusre ghar mein kuch time ke liye toh rakh hi sakte hain. Abh voh koi chhoti bacchi toh nahi ki kisi anaath aashram mein jaayegi. Hamare Varun sir ka ghar vaise bhi itna bada hai." Abhijeet, who had just come, interrupted after listening to the whole conversation.

"Haan, aise bhi kar sakte hain. Varun tumhe koi.. aitraaz toh nahi?" The MHA turned to Varun after hearing Abhijeet out.

"Huh? Kya? Nahi, matlab haan, matlab-" Varun stuttered.

"Perfect! Thank you, Varun! You've always been such a great help!" The MHA shook hands with him.

"Arey, wait-" "Sir.., Miss Sinha ka check-up ho gaya hai she's free to go. And.. Varun, do collect her medicines and files." The doctor came outside her room and informed.

"Wait- what!?"

"Okay, thank you, doctor. Good day." The MHA shook hands with him and turned to Varun. "Thanks, officers. You too are free to go. Now, I have a meeting to catch. Jai Hind." The MHA said and the three of them saluted him as he left. Shahaan and Abhijeet quickly followed him because they knew that they were dead if they met Varun alone.

Varun took a deep breath in frustration. He went towards the counter to collect the files and then headed towards her room. He wanted to yell at her but when he entered and saw her struggling to get up, his heart melted. Helping her up, their eyes met and she quickly looked down. He sat her in the wheel chair and got out of the hospital.

"Aap mujhe kaha le jaa rahe hain?" She asked turning her head as he started pushing her wheelchair. She avoided looking at his face. It was rather.. mesmerizing. His broad shoulders, his parted hair which were always still but attractive like him, the way he pulled up his sleeves or talked was very attractive.

"Mere ghar." "Aapke ghar?" "Hm." His tone was cold. Getting to his car, he opened the door and picked her up and sat her inside, like she weighed nothing. "Put your seatbelt on." He commanded.

He folded her wheelchair before fitting it inside the trunk and sat inside his car before starting it.
