Alex stood on the bridge, hands clenched tightly around the cold railing as he tried to prepare himself for what he had to do. The weight of his decision pressed heavily on his chest, a pain so deep it felt like it might break him. He was about to reject his omega, the one person he was destined for. It was necessary, but the agony was unbearable.
He stared at the rippling water below, his heart silently wishing, if only they could have met in a different world, where things are different. A world where he wasn’t a gang member, and she wasn’t from the Louinsky family—a world where their bond might have had a chance.Closing his eyes, he tried to steel himself as he heard the soft purr of a car pulling up a short distance away. Light footsteps followed, growing closer, and then she was there beside him—his omega. Alex turned slowly, his gaze softening the moment he laid eyes on her. Eian stood before him, her beauty radiant under the moonlight, her smile shy and filled with innocence. His chest tightened, a flood of emotions overwhelming him.
"Hi,"
she whispered, her voice delicate as the breeze. Their eyes locked, and for a moment, words weren’t necessary—their souls seemed to greet each other through their shared, heartfelt gaze."I'm... Eian,"
she said, her voice barely a breath, her face flushing a lovely shade of red as she glanced around nervously.
"Alex,"
he finally replied, his voice rougher than he intended, betraying the inner turmoil he was fighting to contain. His gaze drifted back to the water, his mind battling to stay grounded, to not lose himself in the overwhelming desire to keep her close.
A short distance away, Leo sat in the car, watching. His instincts urged him to get a better look at the alpha. Curiosity fills his mind, and he lifted his phone, zooming in with the camera. But just as the image started to focus, his phone buzzed, a call lighting up the screen: "Dad."
Eian, standing beside Alex, was completely swept away by the moment. The calm, quiet alpha made her heart race, the love bubblingin her chest like a soft giggle. She smiled, trying to control the surge of excitement inside her.
"So, um... How old are you, Alex? I'm 19, almost 20. I’m in uni... And you?"
Her voice was light, trying to keep the conversation normal, though every inch of her wanted to dive deeper into him.
Alex turned to her, his heart nearly stopping at the sight of her smile, her bright eyes full of warmth. For a moment, he forgot everything. His age, his pain—nothing mattered but the woman standing before him. He clenched his fists, resisting the urge to touch her, to pull her into his arms, to run his palm onto that soft brown hair. She looked like an angel, and he... he had to remind himself, he was a demon.
"I’m 23," he muttered, swallowing hard. The words felt forced, like they didn’t belong.
He hesitated, the next words sticking in his throat. But he couldn’t lie to her. She deserved the truth, even if it shattered everything.
"I have a criminal background,"
he said, his voice low, almost drowned out by the sound of the water beneath them. Eian’s eyes widened in shock, but he continued, unable to look at her.
"I steal. I hurt people. I..." His voice cracked."I’ve killed."
He stared at the water, unwilling to meet her gaze. "They call me Blue Blood because... I’m cold. Emotionless. How could I have emotions when I have no soul?" His words were bitter, each one like a blade cutting into him. "That might not be what you want to know about me, but it’s what you need to know."
Eian’s face paled, her expression frozen in disbelief. Her sparkling brown eyes were wide, her lips parted as she struggled to take in what he was telling her.
"I can’t be a soulmate to you," Alex continued, his voice trembling slightly. "Or to anyone. I’m too dark, too empty inside. I have nothing to give you—no love, no safety, no home."
Tears welled in Eian’s eyes, shimmering in the dim light.
"My life is ugly," Alex whispered, his voice barely holding together. "Too ugly for someone as beautiful as you. My world is filthy, too nasty for a pure soul like you. I’m a broken, soulless man who deserves no mate, no love."
His heart was breaking, and yet he knew this was the only way to protect her—from him, from his world, from the inevitable pain he would cause.
Alex drew in a shaky breath, bracing himself to deliver the final rejection. But as he opened his mouth while Eian’s shock rendered her mind a blank slate. She was trapped in a whirlwind of emotions, struggling to process the words he had just spoken.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed, jolting her back to reality and interrupting Alex’s thoughts. With trembling hands and tear-filled eyes, she glanced at the screen, confusion etching deeper lines into her brow. Leo’s name flashed across the display. She raised her head looking, he was waving from the car, signaling her to come over.
She turned to Alex, emotions pouring out of her eyes
“I.... ”
But the words faltered as she looked back to Leo and then back at Alex.
“A... I... just don’t go, okay?” The weight of confession settled heavily on her chest, and she could barely process what had just transpired.
“I’ll go... see my brother real quick,”she said, a desperate attempt to keep him there with her. Eian stepped quickly toward Leo, her head spinning, her heart nearly stopping from the impact of his revelation.
As Eian walked away, Alex let out a long, weary sigh. He wiped his face with his hands, feeling the burden of his choice pressing down on him. He looked up at the sky, trying to gather himself..
This is their first meeting, and the last one as well, and the thought of that made his heart beats aching .
He looked around swallowingthe pain, but his blood ran cold when he spotted a figure approaching from a distance
Chris.
Panic surged through him. Had Chris seen him? With Eian?
Alex’s instincts kicked in. He needed to get away, and fast.
" Dad says it's an emergency and from his tone it really seems like it is.." Leo said with a serious expressions ..
“B... but... I...” Eian’s voice trailed off as she turned to look back at where Alex had been standing, but he was already gone. A sense of dread washed over her as she scanned the area, searching for any sign of him.
“It’s okay, sweetie,” Leo said gently, noticing the distress on Eian's face. “I’ll bring you to meet him another time, okay? Right now, we really need to go.”
Reluctantly, Eian nodded, her heart heavy with unanswered questions, the lingering scent of his presence still in the air around her. As she climbed into the car, her thoughts spiraled, caught between the aching desire to know more and the painful reality of what Alex had revealed.
All the love
