Nico

Seeing Lucky safe fills my heart, the blood pumps around my body and creates pressure in my ears. Being able to hold her in my arms and inhale her aroma fills my senses. After wondering if she would be safe, I feel that for now she is. But I am still concerned as to what could be keeping Tony and where the hell Dario has gone.

I look at Villessey and decide I can trust him; he has been with my since a few years and he has after all brought Lucky to safety. My mother and her mother are sitting together, their arms wrapped around one another. Honestly, I don't think in the history of their time married to their respective Don husbands they have ever been this close to the other side of a shotgun.

"Right, we will go to the emergency escape route. For now, I need everyone to pull themselves together. We will not wait for Tony or Dario," I say my voice perhaps sterner than it needs to be, but I have to get my point across and let everyone know that I am in charge and in control of the situation. Even though I feel the total opposite. Having found out that Andrewkov has acted against me, has thrown me.

"We can't leave them behind, Nico that is wrong. They are your own flesh and blood. What if there is more than one person who is betraying you right now and they are still on the grounds?" My mother's voice is heavy, laden with concern for her eldest.

"Listen to him," my father says, his face impassive. Of course it would be. "They will be fine. Tony will find Dario and bring him out the safest way possible. Besides you have that assassin woman on the case, correct?"

"Aurora," I say for clarification. My father knows full well what her name is, he chooses to behave as if he doesn't. Simply because he wanted me to use one of his men, but I needed fresh blood, people that were mine not my father's. I'm not saying they wouldn't have been as loyal, but they were my father's people not mine. Aurora is willing to give up her life for me, my father's people I am not too sure they would have done.

There was resentment when my father handed everything down to me. Everyone expected the reins to be handed over to Tony only my father decided that Tony wasn't cut from the same cloth as myself and that I would be the best son to continue with the business and operations.

Tony was never interested in any case, he prefers to look after daily operations, the reporting and accounting side of things. Sure, he gets his hands dirty every now and then, but honestly he isn't the same as I am. There isn't anything I won't do to protect my own blood or the empire that has been built up.

"Yes, her," father says.

Villessey, nods at me. "We are ready, lead the way." I tell him. He nudges my mom and Lucky's mother to stand, they will go first followed by our father's then I will be behind Lucky bringing up the back.

"I need to go and get a gun; you start taking them through. I will be right behind," I tell Villessey. He gives me a firm nod of his head and I watch as everyone trails behind him. Except Lucky.

She stands with her hands on her narrow hips, I swear to God she looks delectable in those tight jodhpurs of hers, the top stretching across her high breasts. Now is clearly not the time to be thinking of how good she would be sitting on top of my cock, but I have no control of my mind as I look at her right now.

"I am not going anywhere until you are ready," she says with glinting eyes. Those feline eyes of her bore straight into mine. "And besides, I want a gun too. I know how to handle one. I have learned a thing or two being a Gianluca I will have you know."

"No doubt but I don't want that gun turning on me," I tell her. "Are you sure you can handle one, we don't want any trigger-happy accidents, Lucky."

She sighs and blows out, "Don't take me for a fucking fool. I know one end from the other. Let's get to it, I don't want to be down here any longer than I need to be."

"Fine, let's go." I lead her through a different door that takes us to a metal door with a keypad to the right of it. Quickly I tap in the code and wait for the door to unlock. It opens, she gasps.

"Shit, you have enough weaponry in here for a small country. This is insane, Nico." I can, however, see that she is impressed and yeah, perhaps it is slightly overkill. However, in my line of work and the trouble I have come up across you never can be too cautious.

I hand her a Glock-18, 9mm. "Think you can handle this if need be?" She nods and licks her lower lip.

"Sure can. Are you positive we shouldn't wait for Tony and Dario? Do you trust them, Nico?" Her hand rests on my forearm, her warmth radiates through my body.

"I have no idea, Princess. I like to think I can but there is no explanation for where Dario could be right now."

"I'm sure Tony will find him. Let's go." She takes the Glock from my hand, I tuck the same make into the back of my trousers, close the metal door and punch in the lock code. We turn to go back to the main lounge area. Footsteps resonate on the floor; we both glance up our guns at the ready in seconds.

"Thank fuck I caught you both. I found Dario," Tony says as he turns his head, and we see Dario come through the doors behind Tony. His hair is disheveled.

"Where the hell was he?"

"In the damn shower, didn't hear a thing," Tony says. "We have our weapons, let's get the hell out of here. Aurora is out front with her guys; she confirms we are clear to go. I have organized two helicopters to get us out of here."

"Thanks, Bro," I say earnestly thanking God that my brothers could be trusted after all. It sickened me to think they would even betray me. Strictly speaking Dario did when he organized for my casino money to be stolen. That matter still needs to be dealt with, however, right now we have more pressing matters to attend to.

Bringing Lucky to me, I kiss the top of her head. "Be safe, we should be fine with Villessey heading us up. We are the only ones who know about this entry/exit point. From there we will get in the choppers."

"They'll be waiting for us in the clearing, so it'll only be a hundred or so meters dash to get to them," Tony informs me as he pushes Dario in front of him.

"This is a fucking shit show," Dario says.

"You can say that again," I reply as he begins to walk behind Lucky. Thank God he isn't mouthing off about her otherwise I can imagine she'd turn on him and put the G18 in his face. I shudder at the thought.

Fifteen minutes later we are all outside finally breathing fresh air. "It's so peaceful," Dario says. I forgot he hasn't been out in a few days, poor bastard.

"No time to hang around let's go." Villessey heads everyone to the borderline of the woodland, I can hear the copters.

"Mom, Dad you will be with Dario and Tony. The Gianluca's will be with Lucky and I." I instruct everyone. They nod and head as fast as they can towards the clearing.

As soon as we are all in the helicopters take off. "Where are we headed?" Lucky asks me as she sits next to me, our knees touching, Her right hand on my thigh. All I can think of it getting her to safety, yet the touch of her hand on my leg sends a tingle throughout my body.

"We're heading out of New York and catching a flight from my private airstrip. We will stay in Atlanta on the plantation. If Yelena finds us, we know someone is still feeding her information from the inside."

Lucky rests her head on my shoulder, I lean my head down and kiss her perfect lips. "Nobody will harm you, Lucky."

"This is no life for me, Nico. You know that, right? This is not the kind of life I want to bring kids up in. They need space, freedom, not bodyguards and to be on the run." Her voice is almost a whisper.

Her parents stare at me, her father looks like he would love to chop my fucking head off. "It won't always be like this, Lucky. I promise. We will get Yelena, and we will find out who is behind it, then I can handle the matter."

"It's not good enough though, Nico. There will always be someone else."

"What are you saying, Princess?"
