I stand in front of the mirror, scrutinizing my reflection. I'm wearing a cozy cashmere sweater, a practical coat, and a soft scarf, as instructed by Aaron. My bunny, Cookie, is snoozing quietly on the bed behind me, his little nose twitching occasionally as he dreams. I smooth down a stray lock of hair, feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement about the upcoming outing.
I take a deep breath, hoping I've chosen the right outfit. I can hear Blair moving around behind me, but I'm too absorbed in my own thoughts to pay much attention. I turn to look at Cookie, who has now flopped over onto his side, his soft white fur looking especially fluffy against the blankets.
I can't help but smile at the sight of my little bunny, his peaceful demeanor a stark contrast to my own restless thoughts. I reach out and pet his head gently, feeling the warmth and softness of his fur under my fingertips.
"What do you think, Cookie?" I murmur, my voice soft so as not to wake him. "Do you think I look okay?"
Obviously, Cookie doesn't reply, just twitches his nose in response. I chuckle softly, rolling my eyes at myself for seeking approval from my bunny. I glance at Blair then, who is standing at the closet, holding up a pair of boots and looking thoughtful.
"What do you think, Blair?" I call out, interrupting her contemplative silence. "Boots or no boots?"
She looks over at me, her eyes running up and down my figure as she assesses the outfit. "Hmmm," she muses, tilting her head slightly. "I think the boots would complete the look. It's a little colder outside anyway, so they'll keep you warm."
I nod, considering her words. "Yeah, you're probably right. It won't hurt to be extra warm, especially if Aaron has something planned that involves being outside for a while."
Blair grins, clearly enjoying the opportunity to play dress-up with me. "Exactly," she replies, tossing the boots onto the bed. "Now, let's get you looking perfect before Aaron picks you up."
I shake my head, both amused and exasperated by Blair's enthusiasm. "I'm pretty sure Aaron isn't going to care too much about my outfit," I protest.
"Au contraire, my dear," Blair counters, waggling a finger at me. "Men may act nonchalant, but they do notice these things. Trust me, you want to knock Aaron's socks off with your appearance." Blair grins at me, her eyes sparkling mischievously. "And let's not forget the man who just confessed his feelings for you weeks ago," she points out. "Aaron noticed the little things, you know. So it doesn't hurt to make sure you look your best for him."
I flush slightly, remembering the events of that day. Aaron's confession had caught me off guard, but I can't deny that the memory of it still makes my heart flutter. I try to brush it off, not wanting to let Blair know just how much his words had affected me.
"I suppose you have a point," I admit grudgingly. "But I don't want to overdo it. I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard."
Blair rolls her eyes at my comment. "Please, Elena. You could wear a potato sack and that cousin of mine would still think you're the most beautiful woman in the world."
