Do you remember those innocent loves?
Before we knew the world?Your sweet, tiny cheeks turning red as you see your favorite person walk through the halls.
You smile and wave, praying for them to catch a glance.
That fateful prince, how mature you thought he was.
6 and a half, how out of your league, only a half year older than you.
You try to sit by him in class, maybe share your pencil with him, and feel some innocent butterflies from the exchange.
"I'm in love," You thought to yourself.
You didn't even know what love is, some might say.
But I'd disagree.
Maybe you once knew what the heart of love was supposed to be.
You didn't know the impurities of the world.
Before you were hurt, before you realized there were more feelings than butterflies, before you knew all of the imperfections, the hurt, the hardships, expectations, wants and needs of life.
But in that moment, all that mattered was that he smiled when you gave him your pencil. You would share answers and laugh together. And you thought you were in love.
Maybe by now you've forgotten all about him. Wondering where he is now.
After all of the hurt and pain you're now all-too familiar with.
Wishing you could go back to a pencil-sharing, innocent butterflies kind of relationship.
Go back to the beginning of learning what love is.
