Notes:

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a quick update about the chapters. It turns out I inadvertently split one chapter into two, and I didn't realize it until now. A huge thanks to samwjxx_iz for catching that! I've combined the two chapters back into one cohesive piece, and I also discovered that one of the chapters was only half-finished.

No one should have missed anything, as no new scenarios have been added. However, I recommend rereading "05: Soon, Very Soon," as that was the half-finished chapter. You might notice some title changes, too, since Sam is helping me with everything.

Friday, April 5th.

Levi pinched the bridge of his nose, irritation bubbling beneath the surface. The law had been pestering him endlessly—such impatient little shits. They couldn't expect him to magically conjure useful information about the gangs he was dealing with. First, they needed to establish a bond, then a partnership; it was a delicate dance where they essentially signed their gang over to him—though they didn't know it, of course.

Then Levi had to orchestrate some missions with the gang of his partner, leading them to a designated spot for a meetup where they could acquire high-quality drugs to sell for millions. But this time, they'd be met by the law. That's how Levi operated; he wasn't just a drug dealer or a jewellery businessman—no, he was a spy for the law. Everything he did was under the watchful eye of the authorities. One of his biggest partnerships so far was with Erwin Smith, who also had connections within the law.

But the person on the line was being annoying as hell. A newbie, of course, but still—doubting Levi's every word? How could anyone work with someone like this? Where did this rookie get the guts to question Levi, a seasoned operative who had been working with the law for years? The kid had balls of steel, that was for sure.

"I just don't think we should trust you, mister." the rookie said.

Levi rolled his eyes at the sound of the kid's voice crackling through his earpiece. Clearly, he hadn't learned the first rule of this game: trust was everything. "You really think you're in a position to question me?" Levi shot back, his tone laced with impatience. "I've been doing this long before you even knew how to tie your shoelaces."

The rookie hesitated, clearly taken aback. "I just want to make sure we're not getting played here." he stammered.

Levi exhaled sharply, irritation flaring. "Listen, I'm not here to screw you over. You'll soon learn that I'm the one keeping your ass safe. So either trust the process or find another job. We don't have time for your doubts."

There was a brief silence, and Levi could almost hear the rookie weighing his options. Finally, he replied, "Fine. But if this goes south, I'm holding you responsible."

Levi smirked. "Good luck with that."

The line went dead. Levi pulled the earpiece from his ear and let out a loud sigh, the tension in his shoulders releasing just slightly. If this was the kind of rookie he had to deal with, then—God, please go easy on him. All he wanted now was a stiff drink to dull the edges of his irritation.

Rising from his desk chair, he strode toward a closed shelf at the far side of the room. The shelf was secured with a heavy lock, a keyhole glinting under the dim light. He retrieved the key from his pocket, turning it in the lock with a satisfying click. As the door creaked open, the rich aroma of aged whiskey wafted out, enveloping him like a warm embrace.

Levi scanned the shelves, lined with bottles of various shapes and sizes, each one holding a different story. There were smooth, golden bourbons that promised sweetness and warmth, and deep, amber scotches that spoke of smoky depth and complexity. His collection was impressive—years of carefully curated choices that reflected his taste and mood.
