I clocked in for my shift as a lifeguard since I got the job along with Kie. It was a peaceful day with nothing much going on, and just as I was getting into the swing of things, I saw Sarah walking towards me, a huge grin on her face.

"Hey girl! There's party tonight at Kelce's house to celebrate summer being here, Rafe will be there." She smirked.

My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Rafe's name. "Oh, yeah? Who else is going to be there?"

Sarah shrugged. "The usual crew, I think and half of the school. You should come! It'll be fun, I promise."

I thought for a moment. Should I go? Could I resist the temptation of seeing Rafe again? But then I shook my head, trying to be responsible. "I don't know, Sarah. I have to work again tomorrow morning."

Sarah pouted. "Aw, come on. It'll be just one more night of partying."

Well... Maybe just one more night wouldn't hurt... I finished my shift at the coast, exhausted. I needed to get home, shower, and change before going to the party.

I got into the shower and washed myself clean, then I got dressed and did my hair and makeup. I went to my bedroom window and climbed out of it, getting into my car and heading to Kelces house.

At the party I was happy, for a few hours, at least, I was able to forget about my brother's meddling and my own personal drama. Tonight, I was determined to just let go and have fun with my friends.

Rafe turned to me and said, "Hey, you look amazing tonight. I'm so glad you could make it."

I blushed "Thank you, you look nice too."

Sarah chimed in, "Yeah, you do look stunning! I love that dress on you." Kie and Topper nodded in agreement, and Kelce joked, "Yeah, you're so hot, you're making the fire pit jealous."

"That was so corny bro." Rafe said nudging Kelce, "And don't compliment my girl."

My girl? I thought. I smiles to myself trying to hide my reaction. We'd never discussed me being his girl but I liked it.

At one point, Rafe grabbed my hand and pulled me into a dance, twirling me around in a circle. Topper joined in, and the four of us were dancing in a crazy, spinning circle, our laughter and whoops bouncing off the patio walls.

As the song faded out, we collapsed on the grass, panting and giggling. Rafe flopped down beside me, "You're a natural at this dancing stuff," he said.

I smiled, "You're not so bad yourself."
