Kiara rushed down the hallway, her footsteps echoing as she realized she was running five minutes late. Great, she thought, picking up her pace. Biology was her first subject of the day, and she didn't want to miss anything. She slipped through the door quietly, giving the professor a nod as she entered. Thankfully, he didn't seem to notice her slight tardiness.

She made her way to her usual desk at the front. It was a spot that let her tune out the rest of the room and focus entirely on the lecture. Kiara knew she had no safety nets, no one to help her through college or fund her dreams. It was all on her, and she took it seriously.

Professor Kane, a tall man with silver hair and an intense stare, was already deep into today's topic as Kiara settled into her seat. He adjusted his glasses and continued his lecture, his voice carrying a hint of excitement.

"So, as we discussed in the last class, cell division isn't just about growth-it's about survival. Can anyone tell me the two main stages of cell division?"

Kiara raised her hand, her gaze steady. "Mitosis and cytokinesis."

"Exactly, Kiara. Good to see you're awake this morning," he replied with a rare smile. "Now, in mitosis, we see the division of a cell's nucleus. It's a bit like splitting a deck of cards. Every cell gets a fair share. And this process is crucial because...?"

Another student piped up, "Because it ensures that each daughter cell has the exact same genetic material as the parent cell?"

Professor Kane nodded. "Right on. Imagine if it didn't-there'd be a lot of strange-looking cells around. And that would lead to...?"

Kiara jumped in, "Genetic mutations, possibly leading to diseases."

"Exactly! You guys are on fire today," Professor Kane said, looking pleased. He turned to the board and began sketching out the phases of mitosis: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, each with quick, simplified notes on what each phase did. Kiara scribbled down every detail, her mind already on tonight's study session.

Suddenly, a loud knock on the door interrupted the lesson. Everyone turned as the door creaked open, revealing a couple of university assistants. They wore dark polo shirts with university logos and matching lanyards, looking somewhat out of place with their broad smiles and eager expressions.

"Apologies for the interruption, Professor Kane," one of them said, stepping forward. "We just need a moment to make an announcement about this week's special event."

Professor Kane raised an eyebrow but nodded. "Alright, let's hear it."

The assistant cleared his throat, his gaze sweeping the room before landing on the students, clearly savoring the anticipation. "Good morning, everyone! As some of you may have heard, we're hosting a unique event on campus this week, and it's open to all students. We're talking campus-wide games and challenges, designed to test not only your academic knowledge but also your teamwork, endurance, and... well, let's just say, your wits."

Murmurs filled the room as students exchanged curious glances.

Kiara leaned forward, intrigued. She could feel the excitement building in the room, and despite her usual indifference toward school events, she couldn't help but feel drawn in.

The assistant continued, his smile widening as he scanned the room, clearly enjoying the suspense he was building. "The activities will range from obstacle courses to mind-bending riddles, and yes, even an epic scavenger hunt that'll take you across campus like never before. But here's the real kicker-the winning team doesn't just get an all-expenses-paid trip overseas... there's also a cash prize of $5,000 for each member of the winning team!"
