"Sooo, how are the flying lessons going?" Hannah asked, sitting down at the picnic table next to CJ. She sat oddly, crossing her legs and sitting on them rather that keeping them under the table.

CJ looked up from his lunch, dark hair falling before his eyes. "Well, Coach says that I'm falling less. So... improvement?" He offered, shrugging.

He still wasn't used to staying up in the air for very long. What else could be expected after years of no use? His wings always seemed to seize up after a minute too-long. But it was getting better.

Hannah smiled, her eyes lighting up just a bit. They seemed to have dulled since the last fight with the Horned King. Settling between the regular blue and angry red into a soft violet.

"That's great!" She cheered.

CJ's lips curled into a smile. "I wouldn't say great-"

"I would." The demoness nodded, crossing her arms. "I would say you're very great!" She added.

"You're adorable." CJ rolled his eyes, resting the side of his face in his hand. He noted the sun poking through the parting clouds, creating a stream of light that shone against the grass it touched. CJ found himself staring at it- a beautiful glow of light he'd never seen on the foggy, dark Isle.

Then, he saw a rainbow-colored blur rush over and Gracie practically stumbled into the table before sitting down.

Her hair was sporting new space buns, a style that Etelvina Madrigal - Sahira's roommate - had introduced her to. It was a difference from the typical, unstylish mess. But now that she had someone who knew about her hair type, she found it fun to mess around with.

"Hi! How are you guys! I'm great! Have you guys ever had coffee! Ray just gave me some! Wow it's great!" The skeleton was practically shaking as she rambled off her spill of words.

Hannah just blinked and nodded along, letting Gracie wear herself down before her skull hit the table and she sighed. "I'm gonna crash so hard, aren't I?" She half-joked.

"Yes, absolutely." CJ nodded. "You're actually handing it pretty well for your first cup."

Gracie smiled, her face still buried in the wood. "Yay for me!"

Hannah heard a small squeak from inside her coat- a black PVC trenchcoat decorated with hot pink rhinestones CJ and Gracie had surprised her with. Her red cloak had been damaged rather badly when the cottage collapsed. She opened one of the large pockets and smiled.

"Are you just waking up, baby?" She cooed as Gumbie stuck his little head out and looked around. With a squeak, he slipped back inside, deciding it was too bright.

Gracie gasped excitedly, still hyped from the coffee. "Baby!" She giggled with delight, basically clamoring over the table to get a look at Gumbie.

CJ, deciding this was too much chaos (even for Gracie), stood up and picked up Gracie. "Alright, you're done for today. Go run on top of some building or something. Burn off that energy and go lay down." He instructed.

"Parkour!" Gracie shouted, writhing out of CJ's grasp and bolting for the nearest building.

Hannah smiled, watching Gracie rush to find a rooftop, no doubt heading to cause some more chaos in her wake. Her playful demeanor was familiar, though it seemed different as of late. It was more genuine and joyful, less of a masking facade to distract from inner darkness.

Gracie seemed happy. It was wonderful to watch.

CJ sat back down, now leaning against Hannah's side.

"This is nice." He suddenly said, making Hannah look up.

It was. For most of their lives, the Thieves had been completely miserable. Life had been cruel and unforgiving of childhood innocence. They'd grown up far too fast and now finally got their chance to slow down. To enjoy life.

"It is." She agreed. "I'm happy I get to enjoy this with you." She leaned closer and planted a small kiss on his cheek, watching as his face turned a faint shade of red.

CJ turned and smiled at her. "Love you, too." The two leaned in and closed the gap.
