"Noah, please describe to me exactly what you saw." Joe Sop commands the young year 7. It's an hour after Daniel and Richard got caught in the classroom and the young Noah decided to report the teachers, Mr Kerry and Mr Harris were immediately summoned to the head teacher's office to discuss the situation. "If I may, Sir..." Richard Harris tries to speak but is immediately shut down by Mr Sop saying, "is your name Noah, Mr Harris?" He looks back at Noah, "please, begin."
Noah looks uncertain but eventually speaks up, "well, I went to Mr Harris' classroom during lunch, I was just getting my book, but when I arrived Mr Kerry was in the room. I stood patiently by the door, waiting for Mr Harris to be free, but...instead I witnessed them..." Noah pauses and steals a worried glance at Mr Harris and Mr Kerry. "I witnessed them...talking bad about their coworker, Mr Skinner!"
"That's not...that's not even remotely something to be reported for, Noah." Mr Sop studies the boy's face, "are you sure there's nothing else?"
Noah shakes his head, "no, that's it."
"Ah, sorry for wasting your time, Mr Kerry and Mr Harris, Noah told me this was urgent but...it's obviously not." The man chuckles and stands up to open his office door for the three.Once they've left Joe Sop's office Mr Kerry turns to Noah, "why did you lie for us?"
"Lie for you?" Noah grins, "I don't know what you mean," the young boy winks and is about to walk away when he stops, "I'm gay too, you know, it's okay."
"Gay?" Mr Kerry whispers, "oh, no, you've got us all wrong."
"We have wives and kids, we can't be gay." Mr Harris mutters. Noah laughs and walks away, leaving the two men dumbfounded. Mr Harris looks at Mr Kerry, "we're not gay, we can't be gay."
Mr Kerry nods, "we have wives! We love our wives!"
Mr Harris gasps and looks at his watch, "oh no! Sarah! I'm gonna be late!" Daniel Kerry grins and watches the other man run away.On his drive home Richard Harris thinks a lot about what Noah said. "Gay?" He thinks out loud, "of course I'm not gay!" Richard chuckles, as if the idea of him being homosexual is absurd, but his mind starts to wander, he begins to think about Daniel. How Daniel's hips sway as he walks. How Daniel's hair is always styled with the same perfect side parting. How Daniel sounds when he laughs. How soft Daniel's lips are. How right Daniel's lips felt on his. Richard shakes his head to clear his thoughts, "what the hell am I thinking? I love my wife and kids more than anything in this world. I would never betray them like that." Richard's mind trails back to Daniel. "No matter how much I wish for my lips to meet his again."
Meanwhile, Daniel is also doing some thinking. He's sitting at home, on his beige sofa in his homely decorated living room. He is supposed to be marking exam papers but he can't stop his mind from wandering, and he doesn't want to. "Ahem," his wife, Rachael, clears her throat for his attention, "is something on your mind?" Daniel snaps out of his trance, "on my mind? Oh, it's nothing." He chuckles.
"Are you thinking about that woman you're seeing?" Rachael begins to get angry, "the one from your work?"
"What woman?" Daniel stares at his wife, a brunette woman, with pretty features, with a look of confusion, "I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Don't play dumb with me, Dan!" Rachael shouts, "I know all about your affair! You think I don't see the little smiles while you're texting? You think I don't know when you're thinking about another woman? You were doing it just now!"
Daniel realises, the 'woman' his wife is talking about is his male coworker, the male coworker who he got caught kissing today. Daniel sighs, he knows he has to tell the truth, "Rachael, this might sound strange, but there is no woman."
Rachael shakes her head, "I can't believe you're lying to me again."
Daniel speaks up again, "there's no woman, but I am having an affair."
Rachael looks shocked, "you don't mean?"
"I'm gay, Rachael." Daniel looks at his wife, an honest expression on his face. "I always have been."
