Annie asked, "Alright, so what's the plan?"
Marty answered, "Now we rescue Citizen Brown, get the hell out of here, and get things back to the way they were."
Annie stated, "Fine but it won't be long until they find out you're gone. I'm supposed to already leave, remember?"
Marty laced their fingers, "No more splitting up unless we have to. I don't want to bring up old wounds but...why did you and my other self break up?"
Annie looked down really sad. Just when Marty was about to change the subject, she finally told him. She admitted, "Y - you were just so far gone...Brown Brigade and all. You said that you wanted to follow Citizen Brown's footsteps. I argued against you - told you that I had a really bad feeling about the whole Citizen Plus program. I wanted to be a part of Estelle's rebellion but she sadly never got the chance to establish it. You..." She was really crying at this point, Marty holding her close. She added, "Y - you had said that you didn't want anything to do with me...or Estelle's foolish beliefs... Before I knew it...you had broken up with me. You said that you didn't have time for rebels."
Marty finally replied, "Aw Annie, I'm so sorry... That's why you wanted to push me away. Because of what happened between you and the other Marty." Annie nodded, sobbing. Marty held her close, rubbing her back. They stayed like that for a bit until Annie finally calmed down. Marty commented, "Hey, for what's worth, you would've made a great rebel."
Annie sniffled, holding Marty's hand even tighter. "You know something, I think you are right."
Before anything else could happen, a guard came up to them.
The guard asked, "Miss Baines, I am ready to escort you to your father. Are you ready to go?"
Annie wiped her eyes quickly, "Aw he can wait. Is it okay if this young gentleman shows me around?
The guard insisted, "I'm sorry, Miss Baines I can't do that. Citizen Edna orders."
Annie sighed as Marty squeezed her hand, pulling her off to the side. He told her, whispering, "You better go before we attract attention."
Annie whispered, "What about you?"
Marty promised, "I'll be okay. You won't even know this timeline existed, only in nightmares. And when that happens, I'll be there for you."
Annie finally relented, "Alright...but don't..."
Marty finished, "Disappear again? Never in a million years."
Annie smiled a bit, lifting up his shield, and giving him a quick kiss. Marty returned it.
Annie broke it, "Thank you. And whatever happens, Marty, I'm glad I got you back briefly."
Marty was lovestruck, "Be safe."
Annie pleaded, "You too." As she went out with the other guard, he had made a remark about writing up Annie. She shook her head, "Aw just go away already..."
Marty chuckled a bit. At least she was safe. Now to save Citizen Brown. Marty walked up to another guard, eyeing a tray of food. He had asked if he could have some but the guard refused. He had explained that Biff was taking a pill and Marty had decided to try to get him to take it. The guard had refused and went back to sipping his energy drink.
He told Edna, "No improvement, Citizen Edna. Shall I re-cycle the treatment?"
Edna agreed, "Very well. He's proving to be more stubborn than his sister. Increase the overall stimulation levels by a factor of 1.21 kilokarts, and start again."
Marty was trying to sabotage his equipment but the guard wouldn't budge. Citizen Edna had asked if there was a problem but the guard reported no. Citizen Edna had insisted that they keep going.
Citizen Brown moaned, "No..."
Marty looked around, seeing that one of the doors had a lot of locks on it. Marty couldn't help but wonder who was in there. Biff jumped up, spooking Marty.
Marty mumbled, "I should've known..." Marty pressed on the intercom, "Hi Biff..." Biff was trying to use his but it wouldn't turn on. Marty mused, "Looks like your intercom isn't working. Just as well. It'd probably be a bunch of swearing and mixed up metaphors anyhow." Marty brought out the keys and asked, "You want out of here, big guy?" Biff nodded but the keys didn't work for his cell. "Hmm, guess they didn't work." He said. He added, "The guard said I'm not supposed to give you any food until you swallow your pill."
Biff put the pill in his mouth but instead of swallowing it, it fell on the ground.
Citizen Edna told Citizen Brown, "Stop fighting it, darling. You're only hurting yourself, just like..."
Citizen Brown warned, "You compare me to her one more time and you'll..."
Citizen Edna rolled her eyes, "Oh please, I'm only doing this for your own good."
Marty looked down to Citizen Brown and whispered, "Jeez, he looks miserable..."
Citizen Edna reassured, "Don't worry Emmett, it'll all be over soon..."
Marty slid the newspaper he had under Biff's door and tried to get him to take the pill. Just like before, it landed on the floor. But this time, it landed in the newspaper. Marty took the paper out, grabbing the pill. Marty groaned that it was covered in spit but it was better than nothing. He sneaked it into the guard's energy drink, forcing him to go out like a light.
Citizen Edna commented, "You there, guard!"
Marty perked up, "Uh yes ma'am?"
Citizen Edna instructed, "As you can see, that slacker of a technician is sleeping on the job again. Please be a dear and tend to the Citizen Plus control panel, will you?"
Marty replied, "Um sure..." He whispered, "Okay, Doc, I'm in. Now how do I get you out of here without turning you into a vegetable?"
Marty turned to the control panel. He didn't understand a word of it. He turned the optics up first turning red and then the volume. It had pushed Citizen Brown a bit towards the door.
Citizen Edna stated, "Just let it go, Emmett. When you wake up, you'll be a whole new person." Marty pushed the olfactory one next, it had produced steam in the machines nearby. She started to ask, "What the...?"
The guard pointed out, "Looks like the Aroma Tanks have clogged themselves again."
Citizen Edna sarcastically replied, "Oh, thank you. I hadn't noticed that. Come on, make yourself useful."
The two of them went downstairs where Citizen Brown was being held.
