I've been drowning for a minute,
Your body keeps pulling me in, girl

I wake up from sleep, stretching my arms, instinctively reaching for the familiar warmth beside me

I wake up from sleep, stretching my arms, instinctively reaching for the familiar warmth beside me. But my hand brushes against cold sheets, and the emptiness pulls me from the last threads of sleep. I open my eyes slowly, blinking in the early light as I search the room.

Abhimanyu is nowhere to be found. I feel a pang of disappointment, my fingers tracing the cool linen beside me, missing the comfort of his presence.

Then, my eyes land on the bedside table, and I notice a carefully arranged breakfast tray. A steaming cup of coffee sends delicate wisps into the air, its rich aroma mingling with the faint scent of toasted bread.

There’s a jar of peanut butter beside the toast, and nestled next to the tray is a small folded note.

I reach for it, feeling a soft smile spread across my face as I imagine his thoughtfulness in every detail, each item left behind like a quiet reminder of him.

I pick up the note, feeling the smooth paper between my fingers, and read his familiar handwriting:

"Baby, I have an urgent meeting, so I had to leave early. You were sleeping so peacefully, and I didn’t have the heart to wake you up, so I slipped out quietly. Breakfast is on the table; have it, and I’ll call you as soon as the meeting is over."

A soft smile spreads across my face as I imagine him standing here, watching me sleep, debating whether to wake me or let me rest. His words carry warmth, and suddenly, the room doesn’t feel so empty.

I’ve never felt this loved or seen before, not even close. In my previous relationship with Vedaant, it was like I was invisible—my feelings overlooked, my needs dismissed.

He barely made an effort, and in the end, he chose to cheat on me rather than care for what we had.

But now, there’s this man in my life, Abhimanyu, who’s supposed to be just my fake boyfriend, yet he constantly goes above and beyond for me. He notices the smallest things, makes these quiet gestures that remind me I’m cared for, and somehow makes me feel like I actually matter.
