Something I noticed in this photo.
Fuyuhiko never looks at Peko.
She is always looking at him, but he never seems to look at her.

Why is this relevant?
Okay so I have some theories.

Theory one is probably the most logical.
Theory one: it shows the way they are gradually separated, and how Peko slowly begins acting less as his equal, and more so as his tool, and how she slowly starts accepting it.

Notice how she is no longer looking at him.
She isn't even stood beside him, but shoved away, behind him.
Also look how her smile fades through each panel.

And theory 2:
Fuyuhiko distanced himself from her and didn't acknowledge her, so that he wouldn't grow to care for her (and that didn't work), or maybe just to keep her safe.

Look at her watching him omg.

He doesn't look at her once in those photos.
And theory 3, none of this matters, it is just some art.
