“Frank, I don’t think I can sit for the girls anymore, this house gives me the creeps.
A couple of times while I was walking around after putting the girls to bed, I saw something that had me wondering if I was going insane.

I kept seeing things out of the corner of my eyes, every time I turned to see what it was, there was nothing there.
I’ll let you know if I want to keep sitting for the girls after I have had some time to sort out in my mind if what I saw was real , imaginary, or if I was having a mental breakdown.”

With that, she was out the door and into her car, which peeled out of the driveway, spitting gravel as she spun her tires, making haste to get away.
Luckily, the sitter didn’t actually see any of the creatures in question.
If she had, there would have been a whole new set of problems to defuse.

Before I retired for the evening, I first went up to the girls room to check on the girls.
Cracking open the door to their room, I peeked in to find the girls fast asleep.
Very carefully closing the door so I wouldn’t wake the girls, I decided to make a quick circuit of the house to see if any of our visitors were around.
Flashlight in hand, I began on the upstairs level.
Working my way downstairs, I made the circuit throughout the house without finding anything.
I’m not sure if this was a good thing or not, at least I could sleep without having to stay up all night searching.

I could swear that I had just closed my eyes a minute ago, however, the sun shining through my bedroom window proved me wrong.
Rubbing the sand from my eyes, I headed into the shower to start the day.
Once dry, I took a clean pair of cargo shorts and my favorite Ramon’s t-shirt and headed downstairs to get breakfast ready.
Rounding the corner at the bottoms of the stairs, I could tell that the girls were up, as the sound of Bugs Bunny cartoon sprinkled with the sound of the girls laughter was filling the air.

“Good morning, girls.
Did you sleep well?
If you are hungry, I’ll start making breakfast.
Is there anything special you want?”

May was acting as the spokesperson this morning.
I still haven’t figured out how they decided who will be the mouthpiece for the day.

"Daddy, could we have scrambled eggs with bacon on the side?”

“OK girls, go wash up, and I’ll have breakfast on the table as fast as possible.”

The stampede that followed was short lived as they fought to be the first to reach the bathroom.
Seconds later, I heard the shower running as they readied themselves for the day.
Ten minutes later, a reverse stampede took place as they flew into the kitchen.

“Girls, I have a special treat in store for today.
I haven’t decided if I should tell you about it now or make you wait until later to spring it on you two.
It’s such a hard decision, I don’t know what I am going to do.
Come to think of it I believe that I will wait until later, what do you girls think?”

I knew in my heart that the way I phrased the question was going to get the girls into a rabid debate.
I have to admit I did this on purpose, I just love to see them get all hyper as they try to decide what to do.

"Daddy, that’s not fair, we want to know now, not later.”

“OK if you insist.
Last night, Miss Marks and I thought it would be a lot of fun if I took the two of you to the new miniature golf course that opened up last week.
Afterwards we will have lunch and then go back to the house to return to the hunt for our new friends.
How does that sound?”

May turned towards me, giving me the stinkeye for even considering the idea of not spilling the beans right away.

“Daddy, we saw that mini golf from the school bus the other day, and we were going to ask you to take us, you just beat us to the punch.”
