                        Malia's POV

Whatever happens on track stays on track, Malia." my dad says as i paced back and forth in my hotel room. "He's my biggest competition, dad. Not today. This isn't right."

My father, Dave, was also my manager, has been with me every step of the way since my karting days. He has raised me to have tough skin, especially being a woman in motorsports where it is very hard to make a name for yourself. He has always taught me to leave everything that happens on the track behind, but to never forget the lessons learned, the ones that will fuel your drive to get back at your rivals when the time is right.

Not today, I was furious. My race didn't end as planned.

I hit the wall pretty hard during the race, no fault of my own, though. My biggest rival, Lando Norris, made sure i didn't win by pushing me off the track in the middle of a corner. I was leading, and when he tried to overtake me, we both spun out, i lost control of the car and hit the wall, but he managed to only break off half his front wing and make it back to the track. It was on the penultimate lap and the race finished with a safety car.

The stewards only gave him a 5 second penalty for it but it didn't change the outcome, i had a 20 second lead on everyone and he was the only one who kept up with me the whole race.

What a joke.

He won. He won, and he shouldn't have. I was furious. He was catching up to me in the championship, and i wasn't having it.

I arrived Wednesday night for the next race, hungry as ever, to get the win this weekend. I needed to extend my lead in the championship.

Charles, my teammate asked if i wanted to go get dinner with him and his girlfriend Alex. Of course, i said yes, alex is one of my best friends, and i was so happy she was going to be here this weekend.

Dinner with them was gonna ease my mind from all the rage i have felt since last Sunday at least.

I did my makeup and put on a nice hoody and some baggy jeans, and headed down to the lobby of the hotel to wait for them.

I was sitting on the sofa by the elevators scrolling through instagram when i heard the doors open. I looked up, ready to see my teammate and my best friend, who i haven't seen in ages because she's been so busy with school.

All I saw was the tall man with brown hair, wearing a grey hoodie and black jeans, staring at me with an obnoxious smirk stretched across his face. My smile dropped, and i rolled my eyes and looked back at my phone.

"Waiting for me, Jones?" He said " Not a chance Norris, piss off" i said annoyed. He chuckled, his gaze lingering on me. "Want a picture or something? I said piss off" He bit his cheek thoughtfully for a moment, then turned and walked away as one of his friends caught his attention.

A few minutes later, Charles and Alex came out of the elevator, and i ran to them. I hugged alex tight and told her missed her. I gave Charles a side hug as well and started catching up with alex a whole lot while walking to the car. poor Charles, this was going to be a long night for him. That's why i let him pick where we ate tonight at least.

Pro tip never let Charles pick where to eat. It will always be Italian. Not that it's horrible, but don't ask him 5 times in a row, speaking from experience.
