Another useless school day in my now useless life. It’s been a week and a half since I got the Media Center pass and while it beats sitting over a broken toilet, I still haven’t made any friends. I’m so ready for this school year to be over, but then I have to come back to this hell hole in the fall. There really is no escaping this place.
There was a rock in front of me, so I kicked it with force to let my anger and depression out.
“Ow!” Someone yelled.
I looked up and blushed when I realized the rock hit someone in the leg. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to kick that so hard.”
He looked me over and smiled. “It’s okay. Why are you walking alone in this big city?”
I shrugged. “Going home.”
“I don’t recognize you. I surely would have noticed a pretty girl like you.”
I blushed and looked the guy over. He has curly dark brown hair, dark hazel eyes behind back rimmed glasses and facial hair. He has to be way too old to be talking to me.
“It’s a big city, and I only moved here last month.”
“Really? Where from?”
I looked him over again. “Why?”
He smiled. “Just making conversation. You did after all just kick a rock at my ankle.”
I blushed. “I said I was sorry.”
He pointed at the coffee shop next door. “Do you want to grab a coffee?”
I shrugged. “Not like I have anything better to do.”
He smiled and led us to the coffee shop. I don’t even know this guy’s name and just agreed to have coffee with him? He is the first person who has shown me any kind of attention since I moved here. I pulled out my phone and text Ashley letting her know I’d be home later before walking into the coffee shop.
