Jungkook barely slept that night. His thoughts were a tangled mess of frustration, guilt, and fear. He had promised Jimin he would be different, and he meant it. But with Yura suddenly reaching out again, everything was in jeopardy.

He stared at his phone, Yura’s missed call still lighting up the screen. He had to fix this, had to get her out of his life for good. He couldn’t risk losing Jimin over something like this—over someone like her.

Taking a deep breath, he dialed Yura’s number. The line rang once, twice, three times before she picked up.

“Jungkook?” Yura’s voice was sweet, too sweet. It set his teeth on edge. “I was wondering when you’d call back.”

“What do you want, Yura?” Jungkook said, his voice sharper than he intended.

She laughed softly. “I missed you, that’s all. Can’t an old friend check in?”

“We’re not friends,” Jungkook snapped. “Not anymore. Whatever this is, whatever game you’re playing, I’m not interested. I’m with someone now, and I’m serious about them.”

“Jimin, right?” she said smoothly, the smile evident in her tone. “I’ve heard the rumors. Didn’t know you were the type to settle down, though.”

Jungkook’s grip tightened on his phone. “What do you want, Yura?” he repeated.

She sighed, her tone shifting. “Fine. I just wanted to see you, that’s all. No need to be so defensive.”

“Not happening.”

“Just once, Jungkook. One coffee. I promise, no drama.”

Jungkook hesitated. He knew he should just hang up, block her number, and never look back. But he also knew that if he didn’t deal with this now, she wouldn’t stop. And maybe, just maybe, meeting her would put an end to this once and for all.

“Fine,” he said finally. “One coffee. Tomorrow.”

“Great! I’ll see you then,” she chirped, and before he could change his mind, she hung up.

Jungkook let out a breath, feeling the weight of his decision settle on his shoulders. He needed to be smart about this, to handle it carefully. For Jimin’s sake.

He just hoped he wouldn’t regret it.

**Jimin’s POV**

The next day, Jimin could barely focus in class. His mind kept replaying the look on Jungkook’s face when he’d seen Yura’s name on the screen. The hesitation, the panic—it all felt too familiar, too much like every time he’d been lied to before.

He wanted to trust Jungkook. Wanted to believe that he wasn’t making a mistake by letting himself get close to him. But trust was a fragile thing, and once broken, it was hard to piece back together.

After class, Jimin lingered near the library, hoping to catch Jungkook. He didn’t want to feel this way—not anymore. He wanted to be upfront, to talk it out. Maybe that would help ease the doubt gnawing at him.

When Jungkook finally appeared, his expression was tense, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. Jimin’s heart sank. He knew that look—it was the look of someone who was about to do something they didn’t want to.

“Hey,” Jimin called out, stepping into Jungkook’s path.

Jungkook blinked, as if startled to see him there. “Jimin. Hey.”

“We need to talk,” Jimin said, trying to keep his voice steady.

“Yeah, we do,” Jungkook agreed. He glanced around, then gestured to a bench nearby. “Let’s sit.”

They sat in silence for a moment, the tension between them thick and uncomfortable. Jimin took a deep breath. “What’s going on, Jungkook? I saw the call from Yura. Are you meeting her?”

Jungkook’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t look away. “Yeah, I am. But it’s not what you think.”

Jimin’s heart skipped a beat. “What am I supposed to think?”

“I’m meeting her to end it,” Jungkook said firmly. “To tell her to stay out of our lives for good. I don’t want any more drama, and I don’t want her messing things up between us.”

Jimin studied his face, searching for any hint of deception. But all he saw was sincerity. And fear. “And you think that’ll work?”

“I don’t know,” Jungkook admitted. “But I have to try. I have to make sure she knows I’m serious about this. About you.”

Jimin’s chest tightened, a mixture of relief and anxiety swirling inside him. “I want to believe you, Jungkook. But I’ve been burned before. I don’t know if I can handle it again.”

Jungkook reached out, his hand covering Jimin’s. “I’m not going to hurt you, Jimin. Not intentionally. I’m trying to be better, for you. But I need you to trust me, just a little.”

Jimin’s eyes met his, and for a moment, he saw the vulnerability there, the desperation to prove himself. Slowly, he nodded. “Okay. I’ll trust you. But if you break that trust, I’m done. No more chances.”

Jungkook nodded, his grip on Jimin’s hand tightening slightly. “I won’t. I promise.”

Jimin hoped, for both their sakes, that it was a promise Jungkook could keep.

**Jungkook’s POV**

The next afternoon, Jungkook found himself sitting across from Yura in a crowded café. She looked the same as ever—confident, calculating, her smile a little too sharp. Jungkook felt a prickle of irritation just being near her.

“Thanks for meeting me,” she said, stirring her coffee with a delicate hand.

“Get to the point, Yura,” Jungkook replied, his voice flat.

She pouted slightly but didn’t push. “Alright. Straight to the point, then. I’ve been thinking about what you said, and I’ve realized something. I don’t want to lose you, Jungkook. Not like this.”

Jungkook clenched his jaw. “You already have. Whatever we had, it’s over. I’m with Jimin now, and I’m not interested in playing games with you anymore.”

Yura’s eyes narrowed, a flash of annoyance breaking through her calm façade. “You think you can just drop me and run off with some new boy? You think I’m going to let that slide?”

“I don’t care what you do,” Jungkook shot back. “I’m done with you. Leave me and Jimin alone, or I swear—”

“What?” Yura interrupted, her smile turning cold. “You’ll what, Jungkook? You forget—I know things. About you, about your past. Things that could easily ruin your new little relationship.”

Jungkook’s blood ran cold. “You wouldn’t.”

“Try me,” she said, leaning back in her chair, her eyes gleaming with a challenge. “You know I’ve got nothing to lose. Can you say the same?”

Jungkook stared at her, his heart pounding in his chest. He needed to figure out his next move—fast.

He couldn’t let her ruin this. He wouldn’t let her ruin this.

But the stakes had just gotten a lot higher.
