Clipboard's POV:

I look at the time for what feels like the tenth time today. "Finally! It's 4:00! I can go see Rubber Ball now!" I thought. I say goodbye to Night Light and head to the elevator. I speed walk toward the door and press the numbers on the keypad. I turn on the bracelet and head for the Subject room. I open the door and see Rubber Ball eating what was probably his dinner, but I was too distracted by the fact that he had a bunch of bandages on. He looked up at me and smiled.

"Oh, hey Clipboard!"

"Hey..." I replied. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." He said.

"Are you sure? You're wearing a bunch of bandages. " I said, pointing at his bandaged wounds.

"Oh, that's what this stuff is called? Why do they call them bandages? Why not just call them 'healing paper' instead? Wouldn't that make more sense?" He asked.

"Dude, that's not the point. How did you even get the bandages?"

"Screw put them on."

"Not what I meant. I mean why are you wearing bandages?"

"Because I got hurt."

"No, I mean- Ugh, how did you get hurt." I sighed in annoyance.

"Oh, I was training and a robot attacked me from above."

"What? That's horrible! And you're okay with this?"

"I mean, kind of? It's not the first time this has happened. I'm used to it by now. I should have been more aware of my... What's the word..."

"Surroundings?"

"Yeah, I should have been more aware of my surroundings. Have to be ready for anything!"

"This is messed up" I thought.

"But enough about me, how was your day, Clipboard? What did you do today?" Rubber Ball asked excitedly.

"Nothing really. I just answered a bunch of calls where people were complaining about their computer not loading correctly or something like that." I said, sitting down.

"Huh? What's a computer?"

"You don't know what a computer is?"

"No."

"Wow. What, are you living under a rock or something?"

"No? Why would I live under a rock? It would squish me!"

"I didn't actually mean- You know what? Never mind."

"Ok, but what is a computer?"

"Well, it's kind of hard to explain. It's basically a device that you can input data into, and it can process and store data, as well as output the data."

"...I didn't understand any of that."

"Like I said, it's kinda hard to explain it in simple terms. I would probably have to show you."

"Oh, maybe you could bring it here!"

"Sure! It's easier than trying to explain it. I'll bring it tomorrow."

"Ok. What else happened today?"

"I did talk to one of my coworkers today."

"Ooh, you did? What's their name?"

"Night Light."

"Night Light? What do they look like?"

"They look like a Night Light, duh."

"I've never seen a night light before."

"Oh, right. They basically look like a rectangle on top of a square, with two smaller and thinner rectangles coming out of the back of the square. They can also glow in the dark."

"Wow, cool! What are they like?"

I continued talking with Rubber Ball about Night Light until I remembered something.

"Hey, Rubber Ball, do you know anything about the next subject?" I asked.

"Like I said earlier, I don't really know. They never tell me anything! All I know is that they will be here in two months. That's it." He answered.

"Well, I think I'm going to do a bit of investigating to figure out who the next subject is. Maybe I can find out what else is going on with this project."

"What!? You can't do that! It's too... Too..."

"Dangerous?"

"Yes! It's too dangerous!"

"It's fine!"

"No, it's not! Do you even know where to find the subject?" He questioned.

"No... But I'll probably find it if I look hard enough."

"But what about the scientists? They are always around, and you told me that bracelet's powers do not last for long."

"Then I'll be extra careful. I mean, I entered and exited this lab without the bracelet the first time I came here, and I didn't know where I was going!"

"It does not mean you will not get caught this time! You could get hurt, or worse!"

"Don't worry about me, RB. I promise I will be careful, alright?"

"Fine." He said.

"Great! I'll see you tomorrow!" I said, getting up from where I was sitting and heading towards the door.

"Bye." He said, waving sadly with his tail.

I gave him a reassuring smile and left the room.

"Alright, time to find some information on this project! This should be easy!"

Thank y'all for 95 reads! I'm sorry these chapters are taking so long to come out. School is taking up a lot of my time, and my motivation to write can only last so long. Luckily, I have regained some motivation, and I will try to get a chapter out by Wednesday. Thanks for being so patient!
