Clipboard POV:
I sneak down the hallways, looking in every door I find to see if I can find anything about this project. I open a door and see a couple of scientists looking at a screen. Both are holding a tablet (not the electronic) and it looks like they're writing something down. I squint my eyes to try and see what they are looking at, but the only thing I can see is some sort of cylinder-shaped tube that's glowing a light blue. I quietly sigh and close the door, continuing the search.
I find another door and open it to find a room full of books, all neatly placed on bookshelves and on top of cabinets, reminding me of a library. There was even a front desk with sheets of paper scattered on top.
"Maybe I can find something in here." I thought, walking over to a bookshelf and placing my hand on a book.
But before I could pull the book out, I heard footsteps coming towards my direction. I swiftly climbed onto the bookshelf, laying on my side to stay hidden. As I try to slow down my heart rate, I hear the door open and close, as well as two pairs of footsteps walking in.
"Hey, do you remember where this file goes again? This place is like a maze." one of the scientists said.
"Uh, I think it goes in Section F." the other one said.
"Yeah, but do you know where Section F is?" the first one said.
"Uh... No, sorry." Said the second one.
"Ugh, really, Notecard? How did you forget?" the first scientist said.
"Well, you forgot too!" Notecard said.
"Yeah, but you're supposed to be the one who remembers, not me!" they said.
"Really, Lava Lamp? You should have asked Sticky Note to come instead of me if you wanted someone else to remember where everything goes." Notecard said, irritated.
"You were the only one available to help!" Lava Lamp said.
"Why did you even need my help?"
"I thought you would know where to put the file. But unfortunately, you don't."
"It's not my fault I can't remember. You should be able to know where to put the file if you have it in the first place."
"Screw just shoved the file into my hands and told me to put it Section F in the Data Library! I've only been here once!"
As the two continued to argue, I shuffled as quietly as I could so I could see what was happening. I saw Notecard holding the file in their hand. I squinted my eyes to try and see what it said, but I was too high up to see it. Eventually, Lava Lamp had enough.
"Y'know what? I'll just leave it here." Lava Lamp said, snatching the folder from Notecard and placing it under a stack of papers on the desk. "There, easy peasy."
"Lava Lamp, that's not where it's supposed to go." Notecard said.
"Well, its better than leaving it somewhere else where no one can find it."
"Fine, but if we get in trouble, I'm blaming it on you."
"Whatever. Let's just go." Lava Lamp mumbled, walking towards the door as Notecard followed.
After they left, I waited a few minutes before carefully climbing down from the bookshelf and walking towards the desk. I grabbed the file from under the papers and inspected it. It looked pretty normal, but then I looked at the name of the file.
Subject 0-2: Progress Report
"This must be that new subject's file!" I whispered to myself. "Well, no duh. It says 'Subject 0-2' right there." I left the Data Library, happy that I found what I was looking for.
'Now I just need to get out of here so I can read this file without worrying about getting caught.' I thought.
