Between Heaven and Earth I'm the lucky one

Chapter 3

     Megumi is now 10 years old. He pretty much has a mind of his own at this point. There was something that concerns Toshiko. He hates to talk about school and fusses at her and Satoru when he has gone to school. Megumi had always been a quiet kid who didn't ask for much kept to himself. Toshiko finally one day just broke down and talked to Megumi about what had been going on. She saw him sitting at the table as he was playing with legos. She smiled, watching him as he was building a whole place with them. She sits down next to him as she starts playing with him. She places pieces to make something to fit in with his creation. He glances over at her as he perks up and is sitting on his knees in the chair. She gradually opened the conversation. "So what's this that you're making?" He was placing pieces together as he didn't even look up at her. "It's the house." She smiles, seeing that there was a girl lego figure with a dude along with a small one that looked like a kid. Kids tend to draw or play out what's happening in their life or, in his case, building it. Toshiko puts a puppy there for his demon hounds. "So... Can I ask you something? Why have you been bucking about school so much?" Megumi was quiet as he made the figures play in the yard. He didn't speak for the longest time she started to give up when he finally spoke. He was still looking at the figures. "Some kids have been making fun of me." She was floored when she heard this. Who in their right mind would do this? She grits her teeth as she tries to calm herself down. After she gets herself together, she looks over at him. She continues to play Legos with him. When Satoru comes in the door, Megumi looks up as he smirks, then goes back to what he is doing. She ruffles Megumi's hair, and he groans out annoyance as he moves her hand. She chuckles lightly as she leaves him to go talk to Satoru.
    Satoru turns to her after he is fixing him a plate of food she had fixed for him. "Hey. How are you and how was your day? " He gets him a utensil as he shuts the drawer with his hip. He looks up at her still with his wrap on. He starts to eat. "It was a good day, actually. I got a lot done and even got Megumi's homework taken care of. You?" He nodded as he was finishing what was in his mouth. "It was pretty good. I feel like I have gotten through the students a little more." He proped himself on the counter with his lower back. She was trying to find a way to bring up what her Megumi had talked about before he came home. She was fiddling around, and he noticed that she was trying to tell him something. He sits the plate down on the counter. "Hm?" She looks up at him she fiddles around more until she just says it. "Megumi told me he is being picked on at school." He was quiet as he put his hands on the edge of the counter. He tilted his head she didn't have to see his eyes or his brows to tell he was upset. She could tell by the silence and the body language he was upset. He clears his throat as he looks back at her. "Did he say about what?" *She shakes her head. "No, and I didn't push." He moved his head more up as he crossed his arms over his chest. He was quiet again. Her heart was racing she didn't know what the outcome of this was gonna be. She was mad, too, but they needed to do this the right way. "I have noticed he had been acting weird lately. I was concerned about him, but this makes sense." He had that signature smirk on his face. "So we need go to school about this. Cause knowing how quiet he is, he hasn't said a word." He pushed off the counter as he towered over her. Her face starts to blush, and her heartbeat picks up even more. She could see his beautiful jawline along with his neck to the collar of his shirt. She sawllows as she was trying to control her feelings. He walks past her as he gets a water bottle out of the fridge. She lets out a breath of relief as she turns to face him. "I will make the appointment to see his teacher as soon as possible." He nods. "That's wise. Just let me know." She nods as she turns to walk away. He looked at her as he grabbed her arm it was cold from the water bottle. She shudders at the touch as she looks back. He pulls her close to him. He had her back against his chest. He wraps his arms around her as his hands lie at the top of her stomach. He pulled her even closer. He puts his face close to hers as he nuzzled in her hair. She didn't move or run she let him do it she was actually relaxed in his arms. Her heart was racing at this point, and her cheeks were red. She could feel his heartbeat against her back, and his was racing to. His body was warm she could feel his muscle figure against her, and even though her heart was racing, she felt safe and secure. She didn't want to move a few minutes had passed when Megumi walked up to her Satoru let's go of her as he stepped back he went and got his water bottle. She kneels down to Megumi. "What is it little buddy?" She was still trying to calm down from what just happened. "My  tooth really hurts." He points to it she looks at his teeth. They were white and looked healthy. She touched it when it was loose. He whimpers and pulls away. She felt bad as she put her hand on his arm to resure him. "Sorry you have a loose tooth. It's gonna hurt until it comes out." He looks sacred as he looks at her. "Why am I losing my teeth? " She chuckles as she sits down as he sits in her lap. She rubs his shoulder. "It's ok. They will grow back. They will be big boy teeth. It just means you're growing up." He looks at her as he plays with the tooth. She then gets close to him as she whispers in his ear. "The tooth fairy will come." He looks at her confused. "Tooth fairy?" She nods "Yeah you put that tooth under your pillow, and the tooth fairy will come and leave you money under your pillow." The boys eyes light up as he looks at her. He is all excited now. Now, he wanted the tooth to hurry up and come out. He gets up as he walks away, wiggling it, wanting it to come out. Satoru leans against the wall as he looks down at her.
    "The tooth fairy, really?" She looks at the boy he looked so happy now his spirits were up. She shakes her head. "I know it sounds stupid, but it gave him something. Hope. Something to look forward to. He sighs and shakes his head as he chuckles. "You will make a wonderful mother one day." Her heart skips a beat she couldn't believe he said that. Was he hinting at something. No way. He was just 19, and she was just 18. There was no way. But of course, they were doing the one thing she would have never guessed taking care of a child. But she wouldn't trade it.     Satoru and Toshiko showed up at the school as they sat down with Megumi's teacher. The teacher looks at them. "Hey, I'm Miss. Welch. I'm Megumi's teacher. It  was brought to my attention that you guys are concerned about him." Toshiko looks at the teacher. "Well, yes, actually Megumi told me a few days ago he was being picked on." Welch's eyes widen a bit. She puts her hand on her chest. "I had no earthly idea, or I would have put a stop to it." Satoru leans up in his seat as he looks over his sunglasses to her. "We are aware of that. Megumi doesn't like to talk much. Even to her and I, sometimes we have to pry it out of him." Miss Welch nods as she listens closely to what he said. "I will do my best to keep an eye on him. I will even check up on him. I don't tolerate bulling in my class." They both were relieved to hear that. They both shake her hand as they leave the school. Satoru was walking in front of her with his hands in his pocket. He pulls his glasses off as he puts the wrap back around his eyes. He looks back at her with the corner of his eye. "I have to head to Jujutsu Tech. " He paused as he turned and tiltes his head as he smirked. She nods as they part ways.
    Later that evening, when Megumi got home, he seemed happier. It made Toshiko's heart swell with joy seeing him like that. Megumi lays his bag down and kicks his shoes off as he makes a beeline straight for her. Toshiko, who was shocked, kneeled down to him. "I did it!" He shouts excited she was very puzzled about what when she noticed his tooth was missing. She gets excited as she looks at him. "Let me see!" He smiles real big for her "Oh looks like someone is gonna get a visit tonight." He pulls the tooth out of his pocket that in was in a little baggie. He goes running to his room as he lays it under his pillow. She stands back up as she looks at the clock. It was about time for Satoru to get home. Toshiko then finished the food she had prepped earlier. Megumi, after he comes out of his room, is still gleaming with joy. He gets his book bag and starts his homework at the kitchen table. This was pretty much it. She took jobs here and there, but Satoru really appreciated it more that she focused on the house and Megumi. Things were about to change for both.
