We resumed our search for places as soon as we finished eating. I had heard her stomach rumble during the car ride. Even though I wasn't hungry myself, I accompanied her. I knew if she stayed hungry she'd start eating my head instead and I don't got energy for that.
We didn't talk much, didn't argue too today surprisingly. I wasn't hating her company today per se but I wasn't liking it either.
Dubey took us to a tall building next and parking in its underground parking, we took the elevator up. He unlocked the door revealing a huge working space with windows on all four walls. It was airy, spacious, and moreover in the middle of the city. I thought it would be perfect for her studio.
"What say ma'am?"
She scanned it carefully, walking to every corner. "I like it," she said after inspecting it from all sides. "What do you think Ej?"
"I think so too."
"Okay then I'll send over the papers," Dubey spoke. "I have few more places though if you want to have a look and then make a choice."
"Sure we will," Yaha answered. Giving her a smile, he left from there.
We two walked back to the elevator together and I pressed the button to go down to the parking. She was standing in one corner of the elevator while I was standing in the other, keeping our distance.
We kept going down but suddenly the elevator shook and stopped midway. The light fluttered, making me realise that the elevator might have broken down. My eyes moved to Yaha and she was clung to her corner as fear was evident on her face.
Shit.
I knew what was about to come. I walked to the elevator door and banged on it. "Is anyone there?" I yelled but I don't think anyone heard me. Taking my phone out I was about to make a call, but no signal was available.
My eyes moved back to her as I put my phone away in the pants' pocket. Her face had turned pale now with few sweat beads on her forehead.
I took huge steps towards her, and she instantly held my arms, gripping them with her entire strength. "Ej—Ejaa," her voice came out shaky as she looked up at me with teary eyes. Her body was shivering too along with her lips.
"Yaha." I held her face between both my hands. "Listen to me okay?" She nodded as much as she could in this state.
I held her body down, making her sit down on the elevator's floor and sat next to her. The temperature had begun to rise inside, making me break a sweat as well.
I cupped her face again, holding it firmly and making her look into my eyes. "Yaha breathe with me okay?" She gave me another nod, trying to inhale.
"Deep breath in," I instructed, her eyes fixated on mine. "Breathe out." We both breathed out together. "You are safe okay? I'm here with you." Her head moved into another nod between my hands.
