S O F I A

I woke up feeling a flutter of excitement in my stomach. Today was the day! The day of my big job interview. I stretched lazily in bed, letting the sunlight flood my room, and then I hopped up, ready to dive into my morning skincare routine.

First things first: wash off the remnants of yesterday's makeup and start fresh. I splashed my face with cool water, feeling the sleepiness melt away. Then came the holy grail of my morning routine—my moisturizer. As I rubbed it in, I couldn't help but smile at my reflection. Damn, I was looking good! My skin was practically glowing, and I was pretty sure I was one flawless application of concealer away from being a full-on goddess.

After my skincare was done, it was time for makeup. I took my time, perfecting my winged eyeliner and applying just the right amount of blush. I looked at myself in the mirror, striking a pose. "Sofia, you're so hot, you might just snag a barista boyfriend today," I said, giggling at my own reflection. I could totally see it—me, a cute barista boyfriend, brewing coffee together, exchanging flirty smiles. Life was going to be amazing!

Next up was the outfit. I rummaged through my closet, finally settling on a black skirt that was a tad too short but made my legs look great. I paired it with a white lacy shirt that added just the right touch of femininity. And let's not forget the frilly socks with my favorite black loafers. As I put it all together, I couldn't help but twirl in front of the mirror. "Watch out world, Sofia is here to take on life!" I declared dramatically, before finally giving my hair a quick straighten.

With my hair sitting perfectly, I felt unstoppable. "Today is going to be awesome!" I cheered to myself, feeling the excitement bubbling inside me.

I skipped downstairs, where my brother was sitting at the kitchen table, scrolling through his phone.

"Hey, Gio! You'll never guess what day it is!" I announced, practically bouncing on my toes.

He looked up, raising an eyebrow. "What? Is it 'Annoy My Brother Day' again?"

I rolled my eyes, grabbing a piece of toast. "No! I have my job interview today! I'm so excited!"

He nodded, half-listening, which was classic Giovani. But then I spotted Lorenzo sitting silently in the corner, his gaze fixed on me. I could practically feel him judging my outfit, those piercing eyes boring into me like I was some kind of science experiment.

"Are you really wearing that skirt?" Lorenzo said, his tone flat, but I could see a flicker of concern in his eyes.

"Uh, yeah! It's cute, right?" I shrugged, trying to play it off.

Giovani chimed in, "How are you getting there?"

"Oh, I'll just walk," I said nonchalantly.

Lorenzo shook his head, suddenly standing up. "No, you're not walking. I'll drive you."

"Seriously?" I said, feeling a mix of annoyance and gratitude.

"Get used to it, Sofia. It's not safe to go alone."

I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Fine! But only if you don't make a big deal about it!"

We headed out, the awkwardness hanging in the air like a heavy fog. Once we were in the car, Lorenzo turned to me, a teasing smile creeping onto his lips. "Darlin', why is your skirt so short?"

I felt my cheeks heat up as flashbacks of him in that towel flooded my mind. How dare he put me in this position? "Um, I just think it's cute," I said, trying to sound confident but feeling my heart race at his gaze, which was now fixed on my thighs.

He looked unamused. "You know it's not appropriate for an interview, right?"

"Whatever, Lorenzo!" I shot back, my butterflies doing somersaults in my stomach. "It's fashionable! And it's not like I'm showing too much!"

"Sure, sure," he said, still smirking as he pulled into the parking lot of the coffee shop.

As I hopped out of the car, I took a deep breath, ready to own this day. "Thanks for the ride, I guess!"

"Just... be careful, okay?" he said, and I almost melted at the unexpected concern in his voice.

"Of course! I'm a professional!" I chirped before turning and heading inside, my heart racing with anticipation.

The interview went by in a blur, my confidence soaring as I answered questions and charmed the hiring manager with my personality. I walked out of there feeling like a rockstar, ready to conquer anything that came my way.

But as I stepped back into the parking lot, I couldn't shake the feeling that Lorenzo's piercing gaze lingered in my mind—his teasing words echoing as I thought about what was waiting for me at home.
