Persona 3

"Awakening"

-Evening, April, 9:
I decided to sleep early after Junpei showed me around Paulownia Mall. Junpei just won't stop talking. I'm not really tired, but I just sleep early because I have nothing else to do.

-In a certain room in the dormitory:

-Ikutsuki:
"How is he?"

-Mitsuru:
"The same as last night."

-Ikutsuki:
"Interesting. People who do have the potential should under go symptoms like disorientation, memory loss...but this subject seems rather unique. We'll have to monitor him for a little while."

-Yukari:
"I feel bad that we have to spy on him."

-Ikutsuki:
"I know know you feel bad, but wouldn't it be better to work with someone your age?"

The transceiver activates.

-Mitsuru:
"Akihiko?"

-Akihiko:
"You're not gonna believe what I've just found. This thing is huge. Unfortunately, I only caught a glimpse. I'll be running to the dorm."

-Yukari:
"He's bringing it here?!"

They quickly went downstairs to find Akihiko.

An injured Akihiko entered the dormitory lounge.

-Mitsuru:
"Akihiko?!"

-Akihiko:
"Any second, this thing will be here."

-Mitsuru:
"This is no time to think of something cool. Mr. Chairman, remain in the Operations Room. Yukari, go wake our guest. You need to get him out of here."

-Yukari:
"What about you guys?"

-Mitsuru:
"We'll stay here and hold it off."

-Akihiko:
"What are you waiting for, Yukari? Go!"

I suddenly woke up from a strange noise. The door suddenly flings open and Yukari comes in, grabbing my hand.

We ran upstairs to escape, but I let my hand go of hers.

-Yukari:
"Minato?"

-Minato:
"The moon..."

The moon is so bright. It's eerily gigantic.

-Yukari:
"We need to get out of here. Do you want to die?"

-Minato:
"I don't really care. Is dying really that scary to you?"

Yukari is shocked at my reaction. I'm not really afraid of facing my death. If I die, I die. No one is special in death.

The dorm shakes. Yukari grabs me once again to run to the roof.

-Yukari:
"I don't want to die in a place like this. I haven't learned anything yet."

Yukari doesn't want to face death yet. I see.

We reached the rooftop. A tired Yukari is relieved of being safe up here. I have doubts about that.

2 arms began to climb up the ledge. A mask held by another hand begins to look at us. It jumps up and draws out its swords. It has no body and legs.

-Yukari:
"Are you kidding me? It climbed up the wall!"

It waits for us to move. Yukari drew out her gun and began to point it at herself.

The creature charges to us. Yukari doesn't seem to want to shoot herself. Her heavy breathing is the only sound I can hear from her.

If she doesn't do something, she'll get killed. Yukari closes her eyes and gets tossed away by the monster.

Her gun lands near me. The creature goes after Yukari, intending to finish her off.

I stand there, frozen in fear.

-Back in the Operations Room

-Akihiko:
"There it is, Mitsuru. Let's go."

-Ikutsuki:
"Wait."

They quietly see what happens.

I stare at the gun, pick it up, and remember the last time I didn't do anything. It was the day my parents died.
I point the gun at my head. My heart is pounding and my breath begins to go slower.

I smiled and gathered all my confidence. I finally whispered...

-Minato:
"Per...so...na."

I pulled the trigger. Shards of crystals began forming behind me. A voice begins to speak.

All the shards form something out of the ordinary.

-A Voice:
"Thou art I. I am thou. I have come from the seas of thy heart. I am the Master of Strings...Orpheus!"

The people in the Operations Room were at a shock to see my power. So is an awakened Yukari.

Orpheus hits the creature with his lyre. Orpheus' eyes glow red, letting out a shriek. The creature is covered in fire. Orpheus bombard the monster with fire.

-Mitsuru:
"Stop! If you attack like that, your psyche won't last long."

I take deep breaths, trying to get rid of that monster...

My head begins to ache... I clutch my head for control. Not only am I in pain, so is Orpheus.

Orpheus begins to go away. My left eye glows blue. I yell in pain. A new Persona rips out of Orpheus' body.

It roars in response to my pain. It grabs the creature and slices it's body into pieces. It squished one of the monster's arms with its own hand.

Knowing the battle is over, I finally calmed down and Orpheus retained its original form.

My consciousness begins to fade away. I faint.

-Yukari:
"Minato!"
