Luke's PoV
They managed to pull me away after that but I wasn't happy about it. She deserved it and I wasn't even finished. I wish I could have stayed there all day and beaten the shit out of her.

I started to get more and more worried as we neared the heads office and I resisted the urge to gulp. They were sure to send me home now, to the monster I had to call my step farther. He would be so mad at me. This time, I couldn't withhold the shudder that ran its way through my body. I was terrified.

They dumped me in a chair in the waiting room while they went to go see whether the head was busy. I slung low in my chair, just wishing the ground would swallow me up whole. What was there to live for anyway if they were sending me home?

I glanced down at my knuckles to see them caked in blood. I never realised I hit her that hard. Wait, was I feeling bad? Because of what I did to her? She deserved it, didn't she? But now something told me she didn't. I remember that girl who was in the toilets crying because of bullies. Did I ever make Katherine cry?

I'm pulled out of my thoughts by being dragged into the head teachers office and sat opposite him on his desk. His desk is neat, covered in neat stacks of paper and sharp pencils.

" Luke, this is the third time that a member of staff has seen you intentionally target Katherine. Do you realise how much of a serious issue this is?" He asked me. I just nodded, unable to stop the flashback that flooded my memory.

Flashback
"Do you realise how much of a serious issue this is?" He growled at me, his eyes narrowing into slits across the table. It was always worse when he was drunk. I should never have come back, I had been perfectly safe at Calum's but I missed my mum (an; Luke is such a mummy's boy) Besides, I doubt the Hood's would have let me stay there forever. So after staying there for two days, I sneaked back into the house, thinking he would be out. However, he was waiting for me. Let's just say he wasn't happy about me having left.

"Fucking answer me" he growled at me. I just simply nodded, knowing not to argue with him when he was in this mood, which was all the fucking time. Besides, I never won anyway.

" were you out being a slut?" He questioned. I shook my head again and I was just about say I had been with Calum when a punch to the gut silenced me. He then grabbed hold of my ear, twisting it painfully as he pulled me up and dragged me up the stairs.

" If this is what I have to do to stop you from running away from us Lucas, I will" he hissed as he unlocked the cupboard door and threw me in. I banged my fists on the door but it didn't even make a sound. He knew how much I hated being locked in the dark.

" remember Lucas, I will always find you" he whispered before his footsteps walked away.
End of flashback

" so I have no other option than to send you home" my headteacher told me.

" please no, I will do anything" I begged desperately.

" I'm sorry Luke but the school must take action. Your step farther is waiting for you up at reception" he told me. Couldn't he see I was desperate?

" piece of shit" I yelled at him, shoving all his papers and pens to the floor before I was dragged out.

My step farther picked me up and acted all nice in front of the teachers. They thought he was nice, but I knew different. I knew what would happen when we got home.

Katherine's PoV
They took me straight to the school nurse, but only after I assured them I didn't want to go to the hospital. Hospitals creeped me out, with all their big white walls and the clean smell. The nurse was just bandaging one of the many wounds when the door burst open to reveal Ashton.

He walked straight over and hugged me close. I even felt a few tears fall on my head. Why was he crying over me?

" I'm crying over you because I was so worried about you kit Kat" he told me and I blushed in realisation that I had spoken my thoughts out loud. Kit Kat was the nickname only Ashton called me.

" how did you know I was here?" I asked. Ashton didn't go to this school so I didn't see how he knew.

" Calum rang me and said you were hurt so naturally I came straight away" he explained, gesturing to Calum who I hadn't previously noticed standing in the doorway.

" thanks Calum" I smiled but he just shrugged awkwardly. He was probably so awkward because he felt as though he was betraying Luke. He was still his best friend despite all he had done and you couldn't just abandon your best friend. Unless you were Luke.

" you can go now Katherine. Mr Hood, you need to go back to lessons now and you" she turned to Ashton" make sure she gets home okay and tell her parents she is to take it easy until tomorrow. If it still hurts badly, she is excused from school" the nurse explained.

" it's just me, my parents are away on a business trip" I explained.

" she's staying with us " Ashton said after me.
