The more I shut her out, the more I realized I was shutting myself in. The weight of it all was suffocating, and no matter how much I tried to push through, it felt like I was only sinking deeper.
The phone call we had, the last one before I blocked her... I’ll never forget the way she begged me to talk to her, to just be honest.
But I couldn’t. I couldn’t face the truth of myself in front of her.
She didn’t deserve to see me like this, broken and drowning. She deserved someone who could be whole for her. Someone who could stand beside her without feeling like he was a wrecking ball waiting to destroy everything.
“I can’t do this anymore,” I whispered, my hand trembling as I ended the call.
Then I blocked her.
