" I scream because I've got it too good to cry. " – Y/N
Even a doomed girl couldn't rest in peace. The moment you awoke from your drug-induced slumber, you were subjected to an endless symphony of soul-shattering screeches, echoing in your ear like a poorly written piece of music.
Your eyelashes flutter open, and you find yourself staring at a gray ceiling, the cold metal beneath your body kissing your skin unaffectionately. Your joints creak like clockwork mecha left unoiled for too long, as you muster up the energy to lift yourself into a seated position, listening to the anguishing screams in the distance as you look around. Black metal bars caged you like the pathetic little bird you are, and through the gaps, you could see the prisoners on the other side, slumping around their cells like defeated warriors.
It didn't take a genius to realize that this was a prison, and you knew for sure Natlan doesn't have those. Which leaves two options – Either Fontaine's Fortress of Meropide, or The Snezhanyan Prison. And if Mpenzi's descriptions of Fontaine were true to her word, this place sure as hell isn't the Fortress. Which means...
You're back in your homeland, the very place you were banished from.
In the caliginosity of the prison, you squeeze your eyes shut as you try to focus on what happened, trying to recall anything at all. All you remember is Mpenzi's dead body face-down on the ground, Udel's final look of shock before he let out his last breath, and the feeling of a bullet in your right arm before it all went dark. Then suddenly, everything clicked.
You need to get out of here. The Fatui have seized you, and you're doomed to die if you don't find a way to escape. You scramble to your feet, and wriggle your hands in between the bars, trying to gauge its stability. Three walls of solid stone towered proudly over you, and the ground was made of polished metal that lets out a loud clunk whenever you make a single step. The only possible way to escape is through the gaps of the jail bars, but they're too dense for you to fit through. It'd work if you could transform and squeeze through them, but without the equipment provided for you back in Natlan, no form of magic is an option.
You shift to the side, your bare feet screeching on the ground as you approach the walls instead. They seem aged, and likely haven't been maintained for quite a while, as evident through the little cracks and holes across them. But it'd take a human of unordinary strength, or some kind of drilling tool to break through solid substance. Another option down.
Your vision blurs, almost like you're looking at the world through an uncleaned fish tank, as you stumble backwards, your calves meeting the edge of the prison bed, and you collapse onto the hard mattress that was not anywhat better than the floor below.
The air here is suffocating, your every breath turning into mist in its coldness. Since Mpenzi's death, everything started going wrong, and now you're trapped in this mess with no way out. You hear a few more hysterical screams from the distance, but it's to be expected in a place like this, crammed to the brim with deranged, psychoneurotic people. Couple more hours in here and you'd probably join them too.
